PHILIP WOO’S FORMLINE
Consistent performer Raging Blizzard has top weight but did run on an eye-catching second behind talented stablemate Wunderbar last month over the Sha Tin 1,200m following a long spell and has not missed the frame in seven past Valley 1,200m runs. He's had a nice trial to keep him ticking over and must have claims. Kaholo Angel beat Colourful King from midfield last month at this level for three wins from three starts on his return to the Valley 1,200m from his past four starts across both tracks. He is on a rating high but has been set for this race and since trialled well on dirt. Beauty Waves strode out nicely to win for his new trainer last start over the straight 1,000m and has not missed the board in five past starts over this course, including seconds in both 1,200m runs. He must be kept safe. Magic Control is a 1,000m specialist but does come off a third in that Beauty Waves races and has drawn ideally for his Valley debut over 1,200m.
TROUBLE IN RUNNING
RAGING BLIZZARD (H368) jumped only fairly. Between the 400M and the 300M was held up for clear running as it was being shifted to the outside. Over the concluding stages shifted in, resulting in its rider having to correct his mount near the winning post - Race 763.
BEAUTY WAVES (H294) noted to have blood in the mouth on arrival at the Start. Was examined by the vet and passed suitable to race. Shifted in at the start and was bumped - Race 794.
KAHOLO ANGEL (H216) approaching the 1000M was steadied when crowded. Held up making the Home Turn. On straightening raced tight when obtaining a run between horses - Race 736.
AURORA LADY (J066) on jumping was bumped. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 794.
TOMODACHI KOKOROE (H303) jumped only fairly - Race 817.
BRAVE STAR (G268) shortly after the start raced tight - Race 736.
AERIS NOVA (J534) on jumping was steadied when crowded - Race 817.
YOUTHFUL SPIRITS (J082) after the event rider stated that his mount failed to show sufficient pace to cross runners to his inside in the early stages and as a result was obliged to race very wide and without cover for the majority of the event. He added that as a consequence his mount did not respond strongly to his riding in the Home Straight. Following the race found that horse to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported - Race 824.
SON PAK FU (G265) from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages - Race 763.
