TROUBLE IN RUNNING

OWNERS' PRAISE (H047) held up on the Home Turn - Race 760.

THE ABSOLUTE (H438) when questioned regarding his riding in the early stages, rider stated that from the outside barrier the instructions were to hold a forward position. He said after his mount commenced well, his intention was to follow another runner across to sit outside the lead. He stated that when a runner improved to his inside in the early stages, he had expected that runner to continue forward to race in the lead and he would position his mount to the outside of that runner. He added that when that runner was unable to cross runners to his inside, that resulted in his mount being obliged to race four wide and without cover and as a result near the 900M he attempted to ride his mount forward to cross runners to his inside. He said when that runner then held its position to his inside and he was not able to cross that runner, he then elected to desist from going forward, however, his mount was obliged to continue to race four wide and without cover before giving ground in Home Straight. Trainer confirmed the instructions issued. Rider agreed with the Stewards that in retrospect he would have been better suited by riding his mount in a more decisive manner in the early stages to cross to the front and take advantage of the good start that his mount obtained. After the race was found to be a roarer" which had previously been reported - Race 740.

FIGHTING MACHINE (J015) rounding the Home Turn improved into a narrow run between runners. As a result then raced tight for some distance approaching the 400M. Near the 350M then was checked when crowded - Race 790.

STORM LEGEND (G139) jumped only fairly. After the race, rider stated that after bumping with the running rail near the 600M when racing to the inside of a runner, his mount then finished the race off in a one-paced manner in the Home Straight. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 775.

BRILLIANT EXPRESS (J321) jumped only fairly and then was badly crowded for room - Race 754.

DRAGON FOUR SEAS (J317) bumped shortly after the start - Race 755.

IVICTORIAM (J226) from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages - Race 737.

HAPPY DAILY (E294) on jumping was steadied when crowded. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event - Race 789.

MISTER FOX (J059) was slow to begin and from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. For some distance approaching the 100M was held up - Race 715.

CIRCUIT FIERY (H475) when questioned, rider stated that when caught wide in the early stages he shifted his mount across behind runners near the 1100M to obtain cover. He added that in the Home Straight his intention was to shift out but was unable to do so when a runner was positioned directly to his outside. He said as a result he then looked for runs to the inside, but when another runner shifted out at the 350M, he was then obliged to steady his mount further before obtaining clear running near the 350M - Race 760.
