Punted late, Regency Happy Star kept on gamely after shaking off Gallant Crown 100m out for the lead to collect a maiden win at his 23rd start. Manythanks Forever ran on reasonably well to just take second after a rail run in better than midfield. He was able to back up a last-start win despite carrying eight pounds more. Gallant Crown kept on well to just hold third after moving to the lead 600m out following a speed-tracking role behind Ruby Sailing from gate three. He's improved on each of his two runs down. Fire Ball just failed to get up for third after settling one off the rail in midfield. It was another honest showing after a win last Sunday over 1,600m. Cool Blue ran on well near the outside to just miss the frame after making his run third last from gate 11. He has been hitting the line with purpose in his past three starts across both tracks. Flying Phantom ran on without threatening down the outside after travelling wide towards the rear from gate 10. He couldn't build on a near win last start.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two : (298) - TURTLE COVE HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1400Meters

Horse No 1 STAR LINE (J110) K Teetan Approaching the 1200 Metres, when being shifted in to obtain cover, commenced to race keenly and was steadied away from FIRE BALL.

Horse No 2 GANGNAM STAR (H326) H Bentley Approaching the 1200 Metres shifted out and away from STAR LINE.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 FLYING PHANTOM (J086) Z Purton Approaching the 1200 Metres was eased to avoid GANGNAM STAR which shifted out slightly.

Near the 350 Metres was briefly held up for clear running when being shifted to the outside of COOL BLUE.

Near the 250 Metres shifted out and away from COOL BLUE.

Horse No 5 RUBY SAILING (H347) M L Yeung Kicked a rail with both hind legs on entering the saddling stalls, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.

Jumped awkwardly and made contact with the left side of its barrier.

After the event, M L Yeung reported that the intention was to find cover on his mount, but when caught wide in the early stages RUBY SAILING was allowed to stride forward and lead.

He added that RUBY SAILING raced too keenly in the lead and as a consequence gave ground when under pressure in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported.

Horse No 6 MANYTHANKS FOREVER (J065) A Atzeni Bumped on jumping.

After the 1300 Metres was steadied when being crossed by GALLANT CROWN (Apprentice E C W Wong) which shifted in when not quite clear.

Apprentice Wong was advised to exercise more care.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 7 LINK (J177) L Hewitson Jumped awkwardly and lost ground and was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages from a wide barrier.

Horse No 8 FIRE BALL (D087) Y L Chung Bumped on jumping.

Horse No 9 MULTIDARLING (H148) C L Chau Between the 350 Metres and the 150 Metres was held up for clear running.

Horse No 10 MIU FA FA (J145) M F Poon After the 300 Metres was taken out by FIRE BALL when that runner shifted out and away from MANYTHANKS FOREVER.

Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 11 GO HERO (H315) K H Chan After the event, K H Chan stated that the intention was to hold a more forward position, but on jumping GO HERO was crowded by RATTAN WORLD which shifted in and as a result settled further back than intended.

Horse No 12 RATTAN WORLD (G384) B Avdulla Shifted in at the start and was bumped.

Horse No 14 REGENCY HAPPY STAR (H248) A Badel Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No VERBIER (J187) H Bowman Withdrawn on 28.12.24 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (heart irregularity) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter MIU FA FA.

Before being allowed to race again, VERBIER will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
