Cosmo Navigator edged clear after moving to the lead near the 200m sitting fourth on the grandstand side for a maiden win at his 16th start. Country Dancer ran on nicely for second without a clear run until the 200m after making his run towards the rear. It was another fine effort. Punted late, Beau Gosse ran on nicely to just miss second after getting held up for a run until the 200m following a tardy start. It was his best effort this term from seven starts at his first ever run over the straight 1,000m. Favourite Ho Ho Star lost a placing late after moving to second 100m out following a midfield run in the centre of the track. It was another honest performance without winning this season. Ace Talent had his chance after a handy run but only plodded over the last 150m and just held his ground after a handy run. He's more effective at the Valley. Plentiful ran on all right from behind midfield after failing to get a gain a clear run until the 200m. Wind Speeder was held up over the final 200m.

Horse No 1 COUNTRY DANCER (H436) B Avdulla Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 COSMO NAVIGATOR (H156) A Hamelin Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 HAPPY HORSE (H061) M Chadwick After the event, M Chadwick reported that his mount gave ground when under pressure in the Home Straight and the only explanation he could offer for the performance was that HAPPY HORSE would be better suited at the Happy Valley course travelling around a bend.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of HAPPY HORSE was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race starts.

Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY HORSE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 4 SUPER ELITE (H247) K Teetan Near the 170 Metres changed stride, shifted in slightly and was corrected by its rider.

Assistant Trainer S T Lee, representing Mr D J Hall who was not present at today's meeting, advised that from barrier 1 the instructions were to ride SUPER ELITE conservatively in the early stages with cover.

Horse No 5 GUSTY FIGHTER (J029) L Ferraris A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 6 ACE TALENT (H046) H Bowman Bumped after the 400 Metres.

Horse No 8 PLENTIFUL (G400) A Atzeni Jumped only fairly and then shortly after the start bumped with HO HO STAR which shifted in slightly.

As a result, PLENTIFUL was then steadied when racing in restricted room between HO HO STAR and YOO YOO KNIGHT.

From the 400 Metres until the 150 Metres was held up for clear running behind HO HO STAR.

After the event, A Atzeni reported that when his mount was crowded at the start it settled further back than what had been intended.

Horse No 10 HO HO STAR (H291) Z Purton After the 400 Metres was bumped by ACE TALENT which shifted to the inside of HAPPY HORSE.

HO HO STAR then lay in for the remainder of the event, resulting in its rider Z Purton changing his whip through to his right hand after the 300 Metres.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 12 HAPPY FEELING (H443) A Badel Slow to begin.

Horse No 13 WIND SPEEDER (E281) M L Yeung Approaching the 100 Metres was steadied when disappointed for clear running between COUNTRY DANCER and GORGEOUS VITALITY and as a result did not obtain clear running until after the 50 Metres.

Horse No 14 BEAU GOSSE (G389) M F Poon Jumped only fairly.

Between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when positioned behind COSMO NAVIGATOR.
