Favourite Endeared edged clear after hitting the front 200m out following a patient ride fifth last from gate nine for a second win from 21 starts. Debutant Shamus Storm ran on nicely for second after travelling three wide with cover in midfield. He's acquitted himself well and should be winning races in no time. Sky Vino stayed on gamely to just hold down third at a price after a box-seat run. It was an improved effort at his second ever start. Pearl Of Pang's lost a placing late after claiming the lead near the 300m following a pace-stalking run outside Brilliant Fire. It was a better effort with blinkers added. Master Phoenix made headway from behind midfield to just miss the frame. He has run well in each of his three starts but is still a work in progress. Beauty Missile ran on steadily to just miss fifth prize money after a rail run in midfield. He should find the right mark soon in this grade. Clear Courage held his ground after a handy run with cover from gate two. He's destined for Class Five.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four : (300) - LUNG FU SHAN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters

Horse No 1 HE WAS ME (J535) B Avdulla Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 2 ENDEARED (H161) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 SHAMUS STORM (K031) A Atzeni Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 SKY VINO (K054) M L Yeung Approaching the 400 Metres had some difficulty obtaining clear running when being shifted into a narrow run between BEAUTY MISSILE and BRILLIANT FIRE which was giving ground.

Horse No 7 GREAT SPIRIT (J155) M F Poon Jumped only fairly.

After the event, M F Poon stated that after settling behind midfield in the early stages, his mount was disadvantaged when the pace of the event between the 800 Metres and the 400 Metres was run outside of standard time which resulted in GREAT SPIRIT not travelling well during that section of the race.

He added in the Home Straight GREAT SPIRIT was held up for clear running between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres when positioned behind BEAUTY MISSILE and in the circumstances he was not too disappointed with its performance.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 8 LEEDOX (J154) K De Melo Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.

Raced keenly in the early stages.

Noted to have bled from the left nostril after the race.

An endoscopic examination conducted on LEEDOX confirmed the horse to be a bleeder.

Before being allowed to race again, LEEDOX will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 9 BRILLIANT FIRE (J441) L Hewitson After the event, L Hewitson reported that the intention was to hold a more forward position preferably with cover.

He said in the early stages when caught wide he was obliged to continue forward to cross PEARL OF PANG'S to avoid racing wide and as a result when placed under pressure in the Home Straight BRILLIANT FIRE failed to respond to his riding.

Horse No 12 ORIENTAL TYCOON (J112) P N Wong Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 13 CLEAR COURAGE (J257) H Bentley The Veterinary Surgeon reported that CLEAR COURAGE was lame in the left hind leg after the race.

Before being allowed to race again, CLEAR COURAGE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 14 LITTLE FAIRY (H206) H T Mo Raced very wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
