Recap by phillip woo

Vulcanus took advantage of a dream run to hit the front 200m out and draw clear for a first win at his 15th start. Excellent Daddy charged home from near last to grab second with late market action. The key to him seems to be the all-weather track nowadays. Sonic Boom stayed on for third after a prominent run wide without cover the entire trip from gate 10. He should get away with a race shortly in this grade from a better draw. Fung lost a placing in the final few metres after clearing to lead from gate six. It was a decent effort. High Rise Power ran on late for fifth after making his run third last following his usual slow start. He is his own worst enemy. Strive For Glory weakened to finish next best after sharing the early lead. It was his best effort. Gorgeous Vitality kept on one-paced after settling two-to-three wide with cover from better than midfield. The switch in surface failed to work the oracle. Favourite Patch Of Watch never landed a blow after starting slowly and coming to the final bend four wide without cover.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three : (223) - CARNARVON HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Meters

Horse No 3 SONIC BOOM (H144) M Chadwick Shortly after the start was bumped.

Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 4 STRIVE FOR GLORY (D186) M L Yeung After the event, M L Yeung reported that his instructions were to hold a forward position as STRIVE FOR GLORY had raced well when ridden in a similar manner in a barrier trial on 15 October 2024.

Horse No 5 VULCANUS (J150) C Y Ho Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 7 SPEEDSTAR (G181) H Bowman Noted to have blood at the right nostril after the race.

An endoscopic examination conducted on SPEEDSTAR found that there was no blood in its trachea and therefore the blood in the nostril was determined to be not coming from the lungs and as such the horse was deemed not to have bled.

Horse No 8 HIGH RISE POWER (H353) B Avdulla Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.

Held up between the 500 Metres and the 200 Metres.

Horse No 9 RATTAN WORLD (G384) A Hamelin After the event, A Hamelin reported that he was obliged to ride his mount along in the early stages to hold a position at the back of the field, but RATTAN WORLD failed to travel throughout the event and raced in a disappointing manner.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 10 DOUBLE SHOW (G250) A Pouchin Shortly after the start was bumped and became unbalanced when crowded between SONIC BOOM and PATCH OF WATCH which shifted out abruptly.

Near the 800 Metres was steadied away from PATCH OF WATCH.

Horse No 11 EXCELLENT DADDY (E321) L Ferraris Jumped only fairly and then raced tight to the inside of FANCY STAR for a short distance after the start.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 12 PATCH OF WATCH (H476) P N Wong After the event, Apprentice P N Wong stated that the instructions were to lead, but her mount jumped awkwardly, shifted out abruptly and lost ground.

She said as a result PATCH OF WATCH settled further back in the early stages, then raced keenly and refused to settle throughout the early and middle stages of the event when caught wide behind GORGEOUS VITALITY.

She said as a consequence in the Home Straight PATCH OF WATCH failed to respond to her riding.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, PATCH OF WATCH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Sent for sampling post-race.
