Race Nine : (229) - NATHAN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 MIGHTY STEED (J384) Z Purton A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 RUN RAN RUN (J108) M Chadwick Shortly after the start was crowded between MEEPMEEP and SUNDAY'S SERENADE which shifted in after being bumped by BRILLIANT FIRE.
After the event, M Chadwick stated that he was instructed to obtain a midfield position with cover.
He said when RUN RAN RUN jumped well, he was unable to comply with his instructions and when caught wide in the early stages he elected to allow his mount to stride forward where it travelled in a more forward position than instructed.
Trainer W K Mo confirmed the instructions issued.
Horse No 3 BEAUTY MISSILE (H123) B Avdulla A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 6 DRAGON JOY (J278) H Bowman Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 7 FLYING AKEED (J471) M F Poon Jumped awkwardly.
Approaching the 400 Metres was steadied when disappointed for clear running between YOUNG HORIZON and BEAUTY MISSILE.
Horse No 8 HE WAS YOU (J547) Y L Chung Jumped only fairly.
Bumped near the 150 Metres.
Horse No 9 JOLLY JUMPER (K110) C L Chau Bumped at the start.
Between the 400 Metres and the 250 Metres was held up for clear running.
Horse No 10 BRILLIANT FIRE (J441) L Hewitson L Hewitson was fined the sum of $2,000 for failing to present himself in the Parade Ring by the required time.
Shifted in at the start and was bumped and from a wide barrier was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 11 MEEPMEEP (H234) A Badel A Badel was fined the sum of $2,000 for failing to present himself in the Parade Ring by the required time.
After the event, A Badel reported that his mount was obliged to race very wide and without cover for the majority of the event and as a result was unable to finish the race off in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 12 SUNDAY'S SERENADE (J231) J McDonald Bumped on jumping and became unbalanced and from a wide barrier was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Between the 350 Metres and the 250 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running.
Near the 150 Metres shifted out and away from FASHION LEGEND and made contact with HE WAS YOU.
Horse No 13 YOUNG HORIZON (G272) B Thompson Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and was bumped.
Horse No 14 TRIUMPHANT WARRIOR (H430) C Y Ho Sent for sampling post-race.

Favourite Dragon Joy edged clear after getting the better of Triumphant Warrior 150m out following a one-off trip from midfield for a maiden win at his sixth start. The win was forthcoming after catching the eye in his opening two runs this term. Triumphant Warrior found one too smart after moving to the lead 250m out following a pace-stalking run. It was a solid effort at his first try over 1,400m after placing in one of his first two 1,200m runs this term. Firming in the betting, Master Of All kept on well for third after dictating the run from gate two. It was another solid effort carrying more weight following a win. Sunday's Serenade ran on well for fourth after a patient ride second last from gate 12. He's close to a win. Fashion Legend whacked on one-paced over the last 100m after a handy run along the inside. It was another positive showing after waking up with a third last start. Young Horizon ran on steadily to finish next best from behind midfield. It was another honest effort, but he needs to strike an easier race.
