Recap by phillip woo

Sensationally backed Healthy Healthy just got up by a lip to deny Stellar Express after a prominent run in the centre of the track for back-to-back wins following a midweek success at the Valley. Stellar Express found one just too good after assuming the lead 400m out following a speed-chasing run from gate four. Super Fortune kept on gamely after dictating the pace from gate 14. It was another good run. O'Liner got up from midfield in the centre of the track to inject some value into the quartet. Positive Smile ran on for fifth from behind midfield on the grandstand side. He's shown natural progress in each of his three local starts. Veteran Carroll Street ran on without threatening after making his run four from the rear. He's beyond his better days. Matters Most made some headway late after biding his time three from the rear on the grandstand side. It was an OK effort. Ka Ying Victory was held up for a majority of the race after making his run among the backmarkers. He had a clear excuse.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five : (225) - HUMPHREYS HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Meters

Horse No 1 BABY CRYSTAL (H081) E C W Wong After the event, Apprentice E C W Wong reported that his mount hung out throughout but responded only fairly to his riding over the concluding stages of the event.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 2 THE REVOLUTION (K092) Y L Chung Shortly after the start was bumped by POWER KOEPP which shifted in.

Horse No 4 KA YING VICTORY (H287) Z Purton Approaching the 900 Metres was checked when crowded between PARTERRE which shifted in slightly and BABY CRYSTAL which shifted out and away from HEALTHY HEALTHY.

After considering all the evidence, the Stewards found that the incident occurred due to minor shifts from both horses and therefore no action was taken.

When questioned, Z Purton stated that after commencing awkwardly his mount then raced in restricted room shortly after the start between PARTERRE and BABY CRYSTAL.

He said when both runners then shifted ground approaching the 900 Metres, he was obliged to check his mount and as a result KA YING VICTORY got its head up and lost ground.

He added that this resulted in KA YING VICTORY settling further back in the field than anticipated.

He further stated that he elected then to follow BABY CRYSTAL in the race as he felt this would provide his mount with the best opportunity to improve into the event.

He said when BABY CRYSTAL did not quicken from the 500 Metres KA YING VICTORY became badly held up for clear running behind that runner at which point he was anticipating CARROLL STREET, which appeared to be under pressure, to give ground.

He added that when CARROLL STREET maintained its position to the inside of BABY CRYSTAL, his mount continued to be held up for clear running until near the 100 Metres where he was able to commence riding his mount along.

He said again over the concluding stages KA YING VICTORY could not be ridden out when placed in restricted room between O'LINER and CARROLL STREET.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 9 O'LINER (H264) A Hamelin Over the final 150 Metres lay out and near the winning post was awkwardly positioned close to HEALTHY HEALTHY.

Horse No 11 MAGIC HALLOW (J329) P N Wong Near the 50 Metres, when commencing to give ground, was steadied when crowded between PARTERRE and MATTERS MOST which shifted in.
