Recap by phillip woo

Old-timer Triumphant Jewel kept on gamely after hitting the front 200m out travelling on the far side in midfield to ring up a seventh career win. It was a winning debut for both trainer and jockey. Early favourite Victory Power established a reasonable lead at the 350m after vying for the front and found one too good in the end. He's a winner waiting to happen and 1,200m will suit him better. Lightning Steed finished a distant third after making his move at the 600m travelling just outside the eventual winner. Complacency finished well after peeling out for a run inside the 100m, sitting fore of midfield on the stands side in a pleasing first run for his new trainer. He's crying out for a longer trip. Newcomer Happy Tour's condition gave out pressing the pace. He has some ability but requires time and experience. Plunged to jump favourite Super Eighteen retreated 100m out leading narrowly on the grandstand side. He needed the run following health issues.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (1) - HARCOURT HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Meters

ALPHA HEDGE began awkwardly, shifted out on jumping and bumped STAR SUPERIOR which became unbalanced.

LIGHTNING STEED began awkwardly.

Passing the 400 Metres, STAR SUPERIOR raced tight outside COMPLACENCY.

Passing the 300 Metres, HAPPY TOUR and SUPER EIGHTEEN raced tight.

After this, SUPER EIGHTEEN got its head on the side, lay in and proved difficult to ride.

After the race, Apprentice C Wong (SUPER EIGHTEEN) said that he was not able to offer any explanation for the horse's performance other than its inclination to lay in had made it difficult for him to properly test it.

A veterinary inspection of SUPER EIGHTEEN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

SUPER EIGHTEEN, TRIUMPHANT JEWEL and VICTORY POWER were sent for sampling.
