Recap by phillip woo
Favourite Winner's Way staved off a challenge from Born In China after surging to the lead from near the back at the 150m. He's a touch below the best sprinters but can never be written off over this trip and 1,400m. Born In China weaved a run near the inside from the tail of the field to just miss. A Group Three win up to 1,400m isn't far away. Wishful Thinker got going one from the back after having steady rounding the first bend to finish a clear third. He ran very well off a huge handicap disadvantage and his future is bright. California Fortune only succumbed in the last 100m after getting loose on the lead. He'll certainly come on for this run. Southern Legend needed the outing. Plunged late Jumbo Luck had a tough run and can be forgiven for this effort. Fabulous One was on his back foot after missing the kick and was gone at the top of the straight chasing the leader. He needs his own way in front.
