Recap by phillip woo

There was a sense of deja vu in the second contest of the evening, with Scotch Tycoon making all in decisive style under South African rider Luke Ferraris. After jumping to the head of the field from gate one, the young jockey was allowed to get away with a slow first sectional and made his rivals pay with a two-and-a-quarter length win. Glory B was the slowest away and slightly hampered out of the gates, but the Douglas Whytetrained gelding ran on well in the closing stages under Matthew Chadwick to grab second. Cosmo Navigator tracked Scotch Tycoon throughout but failed to land a blow when push came to shove and weakened into third. The well-backed Sight Happy tracked the leaders along the rail but kept on at one pace under Hugh Bowman in the straight. Sixth Generation was taken back from a wide gate and faced an uphill battle after settling in the last pair. He was keen in the early stages and made minor headway in the final 100m. Joy Coming sat in fourth under Lyle Hewitson but weakened in the final 200m, while Yoda's Choice and Lightning Bolt were never in contention.
