Recap by phillip woo

After taking 17 starts to break his Hong Kong maiden, Ninja Derby made it two wins on the bounce with a fighting victory in a very average race. After travelling fourth on the rail under Matthew Chadwick, Ninja Derby found enough late to swamp a wall of rivals and he will now find himself back in Class Four company. Yeaboi was the lowest-rated galloper at the meeting but showed he may just have something to offer after launching a run from midfield and slicing through traffic near the inside to grab second. Precision Goal worked his way to the lead and didn't set any records through the middle part of the race, but he was quickly passed by Reliable Profit in the straight before finding enough to come again and snatch third. Running Ahead steamed home from last to grab fourth in the bunched finish, only three-quarters of a length off the winner. He looks to be getting closer to breaking his Hong Kong maiden. Invincible Missile launched a run up the rail but couldn't find enough when it mattered, finishing fifth, while Reliable Profit faded into sixth and Right Honourable found trouble late and had to settle for seventh.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four : (14) - STANLEY HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1650Meters

Horse No 1 KYRUS UNICORN (D267) A Atzeni From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 2 NINJA DERBY (H339) M Chadwick Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 RUNNING AHEAD (G313) C L Chau From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Near the 300 Metres was eased to avoid RIGHT HONOURABLE when that runner shifted out slightly.

For some distance after the 200 Metres RUNNING AHEAD (C L Chau) and RIGHT HONOURABLE (B Thompson) made contact as they contested a position to the inside of GOLDEN FAIRY which shifted in slightly.

As a result, RUNNING AHEAD became unbalanced as it attempted to maintain its position to the inside of GOLDEN FAIRY whilst continuing to make contact with RIGHT HONOURABLE.

Both C L Chau and B Thompson were advised in similar circumstances to exercise more care.

Horse No 5 RELIABLE PROFIT (G462) H Bowman Approaching and passing the winning post was steadied when crowded between PRECISION GOAL and RUNNING AHEAD (C L Chau) which lay in and away from NINJA DERBY.

C L Chau was advised to exercise more care.

As a result, RELIABLE PROFIT could not be ridden out fully to the end of the race.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 7 PRECISION GOAL (H016) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 8 RIGHT HONOURABLE (A164) B Thompson Jumped awkwardly and made contact with the left side of its barrier.
