Viva A La bounced out of the gates, took the lead and never looked back, stretching to an easy three-length victory under Matthew Poon Ming-fai. The two-pound claimer continued his good early form with a stellar front-running ride. The well-fancied favourite, Joyful Life, sat in second throughout but could not land a blow. He keeps running with credit and should be shedding the maiden tag soon in this grade. Super Eagle settled towards the rear and ran on well without ever looking like troubling the front two. It was a respectable effort stepping back in trip. Speedy Chariot faced an uphill battle after settling in last and finished best of the rest after making late headway down the outside of the field. He is one to keep on side going forward and should be knocking on the door if he can draw a gate. Cheer For South travelled in third and ran on at one pace when urged forwards by Karis Teetan. It was a disappointing effort. The rest of the field were never in contention with Happy Feeling, Daily Trophy, Wind Speeder and High Rise Power completeting the finishing positions.

Racing Incident Report

Race One : (11) - CHUNG HOM KOK HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 DAILY TROPHY (H283) E C W Wong Near the 900 Metres was momentarily crowded.

After the race, Apprentice E C W Wong stated that his mount did not travel at any stage of the event and failed to finish the race off.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea.

Horse No 2 JOYFUL LIFE (H426) K C Leung Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 HIGH RISE POWER (H353) C L Chau Making the first turn, HIGH RISE POWER, which was racing keenly, was steadied to avoid JOYFUL LIFE (K C Leung) which shifted in when not quite clear.

K C Leung was reprimanded.

As a result, HIGH RISE POWER shifted in and was corrected by its rider C L Chau.

After the event, C L Chau reported that his mount, after racing keenly in the early stages, came under pressure in the middle stages and failed to run on in the Home Straight.

Horse No 6 HAPPY FEELING (H443) B Thompson Jumped only fairly and then was crowded between JOYFUL LIFE and HIGH RISE POWER which shifted out.

Horse No 7 CHEER FOR SOUTH (H178) K Teetan Jumped awkwardly and as a result raced wide and without cover in the early stages until near the 700 Metres when it obtained a position outside the leader VIVA A LA.
