Recap by phillip woo

Sergeant Pepper settled in mid-division and responded to the urgings of Ellis Wong Chi-wang to make steady headway up the straight and lead in the final 50m. It was the seven-year-old's fourth win in the city and he will now have to face Class Three company. Yee Cheong Spirit travelled at the rear of the field and found traffic at the top of straight, but kept on well in the closing stages to grab second in the final strides. It was a big step up from his debut, where he finished ninth over Sha Tin's straight course. Ma Comet has become a consistent customer and added another placing to his record with a good effort in third. After he was posted three wide to track the leaders in the early stages, the Jamie Richards-trained gelding made headway in the straight and held every chance 100m out, but could not find enough to get his head in front. Circuit Seven was sent forward to challenge for the lead just before halfway but was headed in the final 50m after looking the likely winner. Mr Valiant settled towards the rear of the field and kept on for fifth, while Less Is More made no impression in sixth.
