Horse No 1 SUGAR SUGAR (G016) K H Chan After travelling a short distance was steadied when crowded between DO YOUR PART and MOTOMAN which shifted out and away from RED ELEGANCE which also shifted out.
After the 300 Metres became awkwardly placed behind MOTOMAN for a short distance before shifting to that runner's outside to obtain clear running.

Horse No 4 ALPHA ONE (J435) Y L Chung A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 ATOMIC FORCE (G221) H Bentley Sent for sampling post-race.

Leaving the 600 Metres was steadied away from ATOMIC FORCE and as a result ran wide making the first turn.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

After drifting in betting, Atomic Force timed things perfectly from midfield for an upset win. He was able to build on two positive runs following a stable change. Red Elegance stayed on well to just edge favourite Youthful Spirits for second after a one-out, one-back run. It was his best performance from seven runs at this level following a last-start win in Class Four. Youthful Spirits grudgingly gave way after going straight to the lead from gate one. The rise in weight took its toll following a last-start success. Punted late, Ka Ying Cheer found a few too smart after a box-seat run. He's better suited over 1,200m. Sugar Sugar was doing his best work late as expected travelling two from the rear. He is clearly at his best over 1,200m. Specked late, Alpha One weakened after vying for the early lead from gate 11. He didn't have things work his way on his initial Valley start. Motoman whacked on one-paced from midfield. He's still acclimatising to Hong Kong. Do Your Part never figured after travelling in second last on his local debut in the city.
