Racing Incident Report
Race Four : (96) - BADMINTON AND CYCLING 1400M HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 JOYFUL LIFE (H426) H Bowman On arrival at the Start, the tongue tie applied to JOYFUL LIFE was replaced.
K C Leung (SUPER WISE DRAGON) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that over the concluding stages he allowed his mount to shift out when not clear of JOYFUL LIFE, resulting in JOYFUL LIFE having to be checked.
K C Leung was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Wednesday, 30 October 2024 at Happy Valley.
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his very good race riding record.
After the event, H Bowman stated that, from his wide barrier, he was given no specific instructions where to settle other than not to pressure his mount in the early stages.
He said due to the pace of the event being run inside of standard time, JOYFUL LIFE settled further back than what it had at its previous race starts, however, he was able to find a midfield position one-off.
Horse No 2 SUPER WISE DRAGON (G475) K C Leung Near the 1100 Metres was steadied when crowded by MANYTHANKS FOREVER which was taken in by FIRE BALL (Y L Chung).
Y L Chung was advised to exercise more care.
K C Leung pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference over the concluding stages (see JOYFUL LIFE).
Horse No 3 YODA'S CHOICE (J146) M F Poon Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 NOBLE WIN (H195) H Bentley Jumped awkwardly, then bumped with SO AWESOME and lost ground.
Horse No 5 SO AWESOME (D258) C Y Ho Bumped at the start.
Between the 250 Metres and the 100 Metres was held up for clear running.
Horse No 6 CHARMANDER (G437) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 7 WINNING SEVEN (J005) L Ferraris Jumped only fairly.
In the early stages over-raced and for some distance near the 1000 Metres got its head up when being steadied away from MEDIC ELITE.
Horse No 9 ASIAN ONE (E400) M Chadwick Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 12 BEAT HOLLOW (G414) P N Wong After the event, Apprentice P N Wong stated that she was obliged to make use of her mount in the early stages to cross and lead and as a result BEAT HOLLOW did not respond strongly to her riding when placed under pressure in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 13 CHEER FOR SOUTH (H178) C L Chau Lay in in the Home Straight and near the 200 Metres was eased when racing in restricted room between MANYTHANKS FOREVER and SUPER WISE DRAGON which shifted in slightly.
C L Chau, who weighed in at 122 lbs, was fined the sum of $3,000 for returning to scale 2 lbs overweight.
Horse No 14 MEDIC ELITE (G129) K Teetan For some distance near the 150 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running between JOYFUL LIFE and CHEER FOR SOUTH.
Horse No CHILLI BABA (G339) K Teetan CHILLI BABA, Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 12.10.24 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (swollen right front leg).
Before being allowed to race again, CHILLI BABA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Favourite Charmander worked into the clear near the 200m from behind midfield and quickened nicely to get up in the last stride. It was his second win from three starts this term. Yoda's Choice ran a cracker to just miss after moving to the lead 150m out chasing the speed three wide without cover from gate 14. He has caught the eye in back-to-back 1,400m runs following a downgrade. Super Wise Dragon ran on well to finish a close third after a wide with cover run from behind midfield. It was a good run. Youth Power just missed a placing after a prominent run on the fence. He is close to a win. Noble Win ran on well from near last for fifth. It was a better run at his second start for his new trainer this season. Manythanks Forever came up one paced after a one-off trip from better than midfield. He has given a better sight in both starts for his new trainer this term. Joyful Life had to slam on the brakes 40m out when trying to rally near the outside after slotting one off the fence travelling behind midfield from gate 13.
