Recap by phillip woo

Punted late Winning Dragon handed up the lead near the 1,500m to sit prominent on the fence and just got up in the last stride. It was his fifth win from 34 starts. Eighteen Carat just got up by a lip for second down the outside after biding his time two from the rear. It was a return to top form over his favourite 2,000m. Awesome Fluke would not go down without a fight after circling the field from better than midfield to lead approaching the 1,500m. He is an honest performer. Favourite Ensued came up one paced after a prominent run. He was carrying top weight and was first up since March. Supreme Agility only plodded over the final 200m after a speed-chasing run. The change in tactics backfired. Beauty Live came from last to finish next best without threatening the top five. He will be looking forward to a downgrade in the not-too-distant future. Bright Inheritance made a mild bid from towards the rear. He didn't seem to get the trip. Packing Hurricane's move from midfield 700m out was a brief one.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three : (95) - THE HONG KONG, CHINA'S PARIS 2024 OLYMPIC TEAM CELEBRATIONCUP (HANDICAP) - Class 3 - 2000Meters

Horse No 1 ENSUED (H452) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 PACKING HURRICANE (H137) E C W Wong In the early stages raced keenly.

After the event, Apprentice E C W Wong stated that after being taken three wide near the 1100 Metres he was obliged to race without cover thereafter.

He said as a result PACKING HURRICANE was obliged to make a long sustained run in the middle stages of the event and as a consequence was left without a finishing effort.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 SUPREME AGILITY (J267) H Bowman Jumped only fairly.

Approaching the 200 Metres was steadied when crowded between ENSUED and WINNING DRAGON (B Avdulla) which shifted out to improve into clear running, resulting in WINNING DRAGON making contact with SUPREME AGILITY and crowding that runner.

B Avdulla was reprimanded.

Horse No 5 WINNING DRAGON (E461) B Avdulla Between the 300 Metres and the 250 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 UNIVERSAL HORIZON (G360) C Y Ho A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 7 EIGHTEEN CARAT (J104) A Badel Jumped only fairly.

After the event, A Badel advised that from his inside barrier he was instructed to ride his mount where comfortable but not lead the event.

Trainer C S Shum confirmed the instructions and said such instructions were issued as he felt it was advantageous to race off the pace having regard to the manner in which the earlier races of today's racemeeting had been run.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 8 BRIGHT INHERITANCE (J215) M Chadwick From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
