Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Patch Of Cosmo just got up to win a thriller after getting held up for a majority of the straight after a patient ride five back and one off the fence. He made it back-to-back wins this season following a move to blinkers and there is likely more upside. Juneau Pride just found one too good after a wide with cover trip from better than midfield. It was a smart debut effort. Circuit Jolly led and would not go down without a fight when challenged for the front on straightening by Santorini. He was another to catch the eye on debut. Ka Ying Attack just missed a placing after a prominent run on the fence. He was another to make a fine impression on debut. Punted late Etalon Or ran on nicely near the outside to finish a close fifth after making his run wide with cover from behind midfield. He lived up to an improved second last month and clearly is crying out for a longer trip. Northern Fire Ball wasn't beaten all that far in the end after a very wide without cover trip from midfield. He had an excuse.

Racing Incident Report

Race One : (93) - SWIMMING 1200M HANDICAP - Class 4R - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 PATCH OF COSMO (J357) L Ferraris Jumped only fairly.

Between the 400 Metres and the 150 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running between NORTHERN FIRE BALL and ETALON OR.

In this incident, PATCH OF COSMO shifted out and made contact with ETALON OR on a number of occasions.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 SANTORINI (J076) H Bowman After the event, H Bowman stated that his mount was able to lead the event without being pressured and failed to respond to his riding in the Home Straight.

He said he could offer no explanation for his mount's disappointing performance.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 RUN YES RUN (J264) M Chadwick After the event, M Chadwick stated that he had anticipated CIRCUIT JOLLY continuing forward to cross SANTORINI which would allow his mount to obtain a position one-off.

He said when CIRCUIT JOLLY remained racing to the outside of SANTORINI, RUN YES RUN was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event and this was the reason for its failure to run on in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 BABY SATELLITE (J262) A Hamelin Shortly after the start became unbalanced when crowded between SMILING EMPEROR and CIRCUIT JOLLY which shifted out.

Leaving the 800 Metres when reluctant to hold its position to the inside of PATCH OF COSMO was steadied when racing tight to the inside of that runner.

Horse No 5 CIRCUIT JOLLY (J506) Z Purton Shifted out at the start and was bumped.

Near the 170 Metres jumped a mark on the track.

Horse No 6 ETALON OR (J273) A Badel Shifted in at the start, was bumped on the hindquarters and as a result became unbalanced.

On a number of occasions between the 250 Metres and the 150 Metres was bumped by PATCH OF COSMO.

Prior to declaring weighed-in, the Stewards gave consideration if there were grounds for a protest/objection against PATCH OF COSMO being declared the winner on behalf of the connections of ETALON OR due to contact being made on a number of occasions between the 250 Metres and the 150 Metres.

As the Stewards were satisfied that there were not sufficient grounds due to both runners shifting ground and when connections did not lodge a protest/objection, weighed-in was declared on the numbers semaphored by the Judge.

Horse No 7 JUNEAU PRIDE (J443) B Avdulla On jumping was bumped heavily by ETALON OR which shifted in, resulting in JUNEAU PRIDE becoming unbalanced.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 8 KA YING ATTACK (J391) M F Poon For a short distance approaching the 250 Metres lay in and was held up behind SANTORINI.

Horse No 9 NORTHERN FIRE BALL (J488) Y L Chung Fractious in the gates after being loaded.

Was removed from the barriers, examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.

Before being allowed to race again, NORTHERN FIRE BALL will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test and a warning was placed on its barrier manners.

Raced very wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 10 TOP TIME (K006) K De Melo In the early part of the Home Straight lay in and proved difficult to ride out.

Horse No 11 CASHISCASH (J369) K Teetan From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

When being shifted across behind runners in the early stages commenced to race keenly and was steadied to avoid PATCH OF COSMO which shifted out slightly.

Horse No 12 SMILING EMPEROR (J371) H Bentley Shortly after the start was bumped.
