Recap by phillip woo

Perfect General kept finding when popped the question after crossing to the lead from gate five for a maiden win at his second start. He had trialled well and lived up to a pleasing debut effort in July at Sha Tin. Post-time favourite Chateauneuf had his chance but found one too good after chasing the winner on the fence. He produced another honest performance and should come on for the run. Shinkansen stayed on well for third after a prominent run on the fence. He relished a return to his favourite Valley 1,200m. Gimme Five ran on steadily for fourth after settling one off the rail in midfield. He should find his mark shortly. Telecom Power ran on without threatening near the inside after making his run one from the rear. It was his best effort from seven starts. Happy Day just plodded after settling on the rail behind midfield. He has been out of form and could not cope carrying top weight. Judy's Great found little after slotting one-out, one-back from gate seven. He's limited. Early favourite Giant Leap never got into the act after missing the kick from gate eight. He had an excuse.

Racing Incident Report

Race One : (29) - WONG CHUK HANG HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 HAPPY DAY (G119) C Y Ho Shortly after the start shifted out and made contact with SHINKANSEN and became unbalanced.

Over the concluding stages raced tight between TELECOM POWER and GIMME FIVE which shifted in slightly and as a consequence could not be fully ridden out to the finish of the event.

Horse No 2 CHATEAUNEUF (J219) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 GIANT LEAP (J143) A Hamelin As the start was effected reared and as a consequence lost ground.

The Stewards were satisfied that the horse reared simultaneously as the start was effected and therefore determined that it had not been denied a fair start.

After the event, A Hamelin stated that the instructions were to hold a forward position.

He said after rearing at the start and losing ground, he was obliged to ride his mount along in the early stages which resulted in GIANT LEAP racing keenly and being unable to run on in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The barrier manners of GIANT LEAP were considered to be unacceptable and its performance to be disappointing as compared to its previous race starts.

Before being allowed to race again, GIANT LEAP will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 PERFECT GENERAL (J417) H Bowman Shifted out at the start and was bumped.

After the event, Trainer C Fownes confirmed the instructions were to take up a forward position.

Sent for sampling post-race.
