Recap by phillip woo

Punted late, Sweet Briar showed a good turn of foot down the outside to win going away for a third career win. He was a Class Three horse down in grade carrying top weight. Smart Fighter found one too good after briefly hitting the front 100m out following a prominent run. He is capable on his day and was a well rated runner. Tactical Command ran on nicely for third after making his run two from the rear. He produced a good run despite a return to Class Four following a win in June. Favourite Gallant Valour stayed on a non-threatening fourth near the inside after settling on the rail in midfield. He appeared to need the run. En Perfecto made good ground late to finish next best after making his run one from the rear. He produced a much better effort following a lifeless debut run on opening day at Sha Tin. Specked late, Sunny Darling only plodded when asked for more after a box-seat run. He is limited. Lucky Planet was struggling 100m out after turning the final bend three lengths on top. He went too hard after emerging with the lead from E Universe.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three : (31) - WONG CHUK HANG HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 SWEET BRIAR (H044) L Hewitson Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 GALLANT VALOUR (H323) K Teetan Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 EN PERFECTO (J409) M F Poon Jumped only fairly and then shortly after the start was steadied when crowded by TACTICAL COMMAND which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.

Horse No 5 SUNNY DARLING (J171) C Y Ho Near the 600 Metres was crowded by E UNIVERSE which lay in towards the rail before being corrected by its rider Apprentice E C W Wong.

Horse No 6 LUCKY PLANET (H235) M Chadwick When questioned, M Chadwick stated that his instructions were to hold a forward position and if circumstances permitted to ride LUCKY PLANET in a similar manner to when it won at Happy Valley on 10 July 2024.

He said in the early stages after being able to cross E UNIVERSE, he then from the 700 Metres commenced to urge LUCKY PLANET forward as he had on 10 July 2024 to establish a break on the field.

He added LUCKY PLANET did not respond to his efforts to do so and as a consequence he was obliged to make some use of his mount thereafter to comply with his instructions.

He said in the Home Straight LUCKY PLANET lay in and shifted in towards the running rail before giving ground over the final 200 Metres.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of LUCKY PLANET, a last start winner, was considered to be disappointing as compared to its last start.

Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY PLANET will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 7 TRIPLE BLISS (J310) K C Leung Bumped on the hindquarters shortly after the start and became unbalanced.

Horse No 8 SMART FIGHTER (H278) A Atzeni Sent for sampling post-race.
