Recap by phillip woo

Star Contact kept finding to just defeat Simply Maverick after surging to the lead 150m out. He is now a five-time winner and deserved that victory after ending last season with four minor placings. Simply Maverick found one just too good after settling in the box seat. He loves the Valley 1,650m and the difference was a four-pound swing in the weights. Favourite Setanta came from last near the inside to finish a close third. He was able to build on a closing fourth last Wednesday. Supreme Agility made good ground late for fourth without threatening the top three. It was a good effort carrying top weight and he likely wants a further trip. Sensationally backed Beato ran on without threatening after making his run four back on the fence. He was likely in need of the run and does prefer the mile trip at Sha Tin. Perfect Team was doing his best work late near the outside after biding his time two from the rear. He prefers racing on the dirt. Gallant Waking ran on steadily after settling one off the rail behind midfield to edge long-time leader and late fancied Satirical Fan.
