Recap by phillip woo

Super Eagle ran down early favourite Golden Long in the dying stages after a prominent run for a first win at his 23rd Hong Kong start. He deserved the win after placing in eight of 11 other starts this term. Golden Long stalked the pace from gate seven and found one too good after claiming the lead near the 100m. He's still improving after winning the first of his three starts. Valhalla ran on nicely for third after settling one off the rail in midfield. It was a better effort at his second run in Class Four after a third win in the cellar grade in December. Ragnarr came up one paced in the last 100m for fourth after a settling in the box seat. It was a much better effort. Post-time favourite Flying Phantom made a steady bid to get fifth prize money after travelling on the rail run in midfield. He's not the finished product but clearly has shown ability in his four starts. Melbourne Hall only held his ground after making his run better than midfield on the fence. He's beyond his better days. Happy Soul made good ground late from towards the rear. Hero Star was stopping near the 100m after dictating the pace from gate three.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four : (421) - TSUN YIP HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 GOLDEN LONG (H462) K C Leung Bumped shortly after the start.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 RAGNARR (H297) L Ferraris Bumped shortly after the start.

Lay out making the first turn.

Horse No 3 HIGH RISE SOLDIER (C511) L Hewitson A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 FLYING PHANTOM (J086) Z Purton After traveling a short distance was brushed by GOLDEN LONG, resulting in FLYING PHANTOM then being awkwardly placed behind SUPER EAGLE which was taken out slightly by HERO STAR.

After the race, Z Purton reported that with the pace of the event in the early and middle stages being run outside of standard, FLYING PHANTOM over-raced for some distance after the 800 Metres and was steadied away from MELBOURNE HALL.

He said as a result FLYING PHANTOM was unable to finish the race off strongly.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 HAPPY SOUL (G249) H Bentley Jumped awkwardly and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

In the middle stages raced keenly.

Horse No 7 EVER VICTORIOUS (H422) B Thompson Slow to begin.

Horse No 8 HERO STAR (D033) M Chadwick A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 9 MELBOURNE HALL (D118) Y L Chung Raced keenly in the middle stages and near the 600 Metres raced tight between RAGNARR and SUPER EAGLE.

Horse No 10 VALHALLA (E495) B Avdulla When questioned, B Avdulla stated that near the 700 Metres his mount shifted out when being contacted by FLYING PHANTOM which resulted in his saddle shifting to the right side.

He said as a result he was placed at some disadvantage throughout the event and after following SUPER EAGLE into the Home Straight, VALHALLA then lay in and proved reluctant to shift to that runner's outside.

He added due to the positioning of his saddle he was unable to forcefully move his mount to the outside of SUPER EAGLE and as a result VALHALLA took some time to respond to his urgings to improve to the outside of SUPER EAGLE where it obtained clear running near the 200 Metres.

Horse No 11 SUPER EAGLE (G408) K Teetan Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 12 HO HO STAR (H291) A Badel Jumped awkwardly and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
