Racing Incident Report
Race Six : (423) - HOI YUEN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Meters
Horse No 1 FORTUNE WARRIOR (H229) K Teetan After the race, K Teetan reported that after being bumped shortly after the start his mount did not show sufficient pace to hold a more forward position despite riding it along.
He said when caught wide in the early stages he then allowed his mount to obtain cover behind RUBY SAILING.
He added in the middle stages FORTUNE WARRIOR then over-raced and finished the race off only fairly.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 FUN ELITE (J042) L Hewitson Bumped at the start.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 HARMONY FIRE (E175) E C W Wong Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 GLORIOUS EXPERT (J028) A Badel A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 6 HICKORY VICTORY (H370) M F Poon Shortly after the start was crowded between RUBY SAILING and FORTUNE WARRIOR which shifted in and away from SERGEANT PEPPER which also shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.
As a result, HICKORY VICTORY was shifted across behind runners thereafter.
Horse No 7 MOLLY'S WITNESS (J121) Z Purton Jumped only fairly.
After the race, Z Purton could offer no excuse for the poor performance of his mount.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The performance of MOLLY'S WITNESS was considered to be disappointing.
Before being allowed to race again, MOLLY'S WITNESS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 8 PARENTS' LOVE (H405) Y L Chung Near the 250 Metres lay in and a short distance later was then steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of FUN ELITE when that runner shifted out slightly.
As a result, PARENTS' LOVE was directed to the outside of FUN ELITE to secure clear running.
After the race, Apprentice Y L Chung stated that his instructions were to hold a forward position, but PARENTS' LOVE did not show sufficient pace to do so and as a result settled further back than he had anticipated.
Horse No 10 SAVVY DELIGHT (E386) A Atzeni From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 11 SAME TO YOU (H057) B Thompson Jumped only fairly and then was bumped shortly after the start by FUN ELITE.
Passing the 100 Metres made contact with HICKORY VICTORY when that runner shifted in before being corrected by its rider M F Poon.
Horse No 12 KING INVINCIBLE (H199) K C Leung Jumped awkwardly.

Harmony Fire drew clear after turning the final bend on top following pressure for the lead to his outside by Sergeant Pepper. It was an overdue win after finishing second in two of four other course and distance runs this term. Fun Elite stayed on nicely for second after chasing the speed wide without cover from gate 10. It was a solid run after making a good impression in two early 1,000m runs at Sha Tin. Ruby Sailing gave a decent sight for third after a prominent run. It was another honest effort despite a switch in venues. King Invincible got up late for fourth after turning the final bend one from the rear along the inside. He can produce the odd positive run now and then. Parent's Love just failed to make the frame after getting impeded near the 200m marker following a wide trip in midfield. It's still early days but he'll be winning races when the penny does drop. Sergeant Pepper was only plodding over the last 150m to finish next best. Fortune Warrior ran on without threatening after settling one off the rail in midfield. Molly's Witness finished last, settling in midfield after a tardy start.
