Favourite Helene Paragon let down nicely after barging his way into the open 350m out following a rails run behind midfield to claim a deserving Group One win 50m out. He's a super miler and 1,800m performer. Joyful Trinity finished nicely after a deep run beyond midfield to fill the Quinella spot. He's running his eyeballs out against the top 1,400m and milers in recent runs but keeps finding one or a couple too good. Veteran Able Friend came on nicely to run down Contentment for third after behind held up for a clear run until the 300m following a patient ride near the back. Sensationally-backed at the jump, Contentment was given every chance up front and was swamped late for a placing. Age is getting the better of him nowadays. Beauty Only was doing some nice work late after travelling second from the rear. Werther kept on reasonably well after being held up until the 200m following a prominent run along the fence.

Race Nine: (379)-THE STEWARDS' CUP - Group One - 1600Metres

WERTHER began awkwardly.

CONTENTMENT and GIANT TREASURE bumped at the start.

From the outside barriers, BEAUTY ONLY and ABLE FRIEND were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Passing the 400 Metres, HELENE PARAGON and GIANT TREASURE bumped as HELENE PARAGON improved into tight running between GIANT TREASURE and BLAZING SPEED.

ABLE FRIEND, which was following and held up for clear running, was checked in away from the heels of HELENE PARAGON in consequence.

When GIANT TREASURE was taken out by HELENE PARAGON, JOYFUL TRINITY and BEAUTY ONLY, which were improving to the outside of GIANT TREASURE, were inconvenienced.

ABLE FRIEND had difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 300 Metres and passing the 100 Metres was shifted to the inside of HELENE PARAGON to obtain clear running.

Throughout the race, BLAZING SPEED travelled wide and without cover.

HELENE PARAGON and JOYFUL TRINITY were sent for sampling.
