Racing Incident Report
Race Eleven: (381)-KUT CHEONG HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1600Metres
BEAUTY WAY was withdrawn on 29.1.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter FRIENDS OF NANJING.Before being allowed to race again, BEAUTY WAY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
RAZOR QUEST began awkwardly and lost ground.
WHO DAT SINGA began only fairly.
From a wide barrier, AMAZING AGILITY was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
PHOTON WILLIE was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain a position closer to the rail.
After the 1500 Metres, LIMITLESS commenced to prove very difficult to settle and got its head up continually when being steadied.
Then near the 1050 Metres, LIMITLESS, which was continuing to over-race, again got its head up when being checked away from the heels of WHO DAT SINGA.
PHOTON WILLIE, which was following, was checked away from the heels of LIMITLESS in consequence.
After this, LIMITLESS continued to prove difficult to settle and was awkwardly placed behind WHO DAT SINGA throughout the middle stages.
Rounding the Home Turn, PRAWN BABA was bumped by JADE FORTUNE.
At the entrance to the Straight, JADE FORTUNE and BOOMING DELIGHT raced tight as BOOMING DELIGHT shifted out into clear running.
PHOTON WILLIE was shifted out away from the heels of GOLDEN SLEEP passing the 400 Metres when that horse shifted in after being held up for clear running.
LIMITLESS, which was hanging in, was held up for clear running from passing the 400 Metres until near the 300 Metres.
GOLDEN SLEEP lost its right hind plate approaching the 300 Metres.
C Y Ho (BRING IT ON) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 100 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out, resulting in JADE FORTUNE, which was racing tight inside PRAWN BABA, being checked when crowded and losing the running to which it was rightfully entitled.
C Y Ho was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 8 February 2017 and to expire on Sunday, 12 February 2017 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).
In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Ho??s good race riding record.
When racing tight outside JADE FORTUNE, J Moreira, the rider of PRAWN BABA, stopped riding and straightened his mount to prevent it from shifting in and causing further crowding to JADE FORTUNE.
Throughout the race, JADE FORTUNE travelled wide and without cover.
BOOMING DELIGHT and FRIENDS OF NANJING were sent for sampling.
GENERAL:

Adjourned Inquiry ?V 25 January 2017 Happy Valley Racemeeting The Stewards today resumed the inquiry commenced following Race 2 at the Happy Valley racemeeting conducted on Wednesday, 25 January 2017.
During that racemeeting, Apprentice K K Chiong was charged with a breach of Rule 100(1) (careless riding) in that passing the 1200 Metres she permitted MEDIC SWORDSMAN to shift in when not clear of HIGH SPEED METRO, causing that horse to be severely checked and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled.
Prior to entering a plea, Apprentice Chiong requested an adjournment to allow her allocated trainer, Mr K W Lui, to be present at today??s resumption of the inquiry.
After being informed of the evidence and after having viewed the videos, Mr Lui and Apprentice Chiong were required to consider a plea to be entered.
Subsequently, Apprentice Chiong pleaded guilty to the charge and was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 19 February 2017 and to expire on Monday, 27 February 2017 on which day she may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays).
In addition, Apprentice Chiong was fined $12,500.

Additional Veterinary Reports from Happy Valley Racemeeting on 25 January 2017 Subsequent official veterinary inspections (without endoscopy) of GIDDY GIDDY, RUGBY DIAMOND, ALL TIMES LUCKY, SPEEDY WALLY, DUTCH WINDMILL, BLISS CARTEL, ANDOYAS, HAPPY CONTENDER, BREEDERS?? STAR, CIRCUIT KING, IMPERIAL SEAL, SUM WIN DRAGON, GOOD COMPANION, DESTIN, NITRO EXPRESS, BULLISH SMART, ISAAC, I??M A WITNESS, HARRIER JET, MARVEL HERO and HAPPY SPIRIT revealed no apparent abnormality.

Racing Laboratory tests of BORN DRAGON, AMBITIOUS SPEEDY, SOCCER BRAVE, SWEET BEAN, VIVACIOUS WINNER, WAH MAY FRIEND, EROICO, ALMABABY, I??M THE WON FOR U, RESPECT, DRAGON WARRIOR, BOND ELEGANCE, GRADE ONE, RED MARVEL, SKY KING, BEAUTY PRINCE, DRAGON HARMONY, VANILLA, GOLD DRAGON, CALIFORNIA WHIP and LOVE SHOCK (18.1.17) proved negative.

Favourite Booming Delight held off Friends Of Nanjing after advancing to the front 150m out following a one-out, one-back for a second from four starts. Class carried him across the wire on top but he's going to be better over longer trips. Friends Of Nanjing finished well after a deep run beyond midfield despite the pace going against him. He's ready to win after hitting the board in his past two of four starts this term. Amazing Agility kept coming down the outside after travelling third from the rear to pick up a placing. The gear change helped but he's likely near his mark. Bring It On was swamped for a placing in deep stretch after hitting the front 300m out following a pace-stalking run from the widest gate. He's a winner waiting to happen at a mile or 1,800m but may be better suited ridden with patience. Prawn Baba kept plugging away following a deep run with cover travelling fore of midfield to just finish out of the top-four.
