Recap by phillip woo

Short-priced favourite Mr Stunning assumed the lead 400m out after tracking the speed near the stands side and edged clear for a fifth win from eight starts. He's a speed machine and remains one to follow up to 1,200m. Archippus finished well after travelling fore of midfield but found one too good in the end. He rarely runs a bad race sprinting on either surface. My Little Friend would have been unlucky if not grabbing a placing when having to shift off heels for a clear run 100m out with a good bid from near the back. He'll be winning shortly over this course and distance. Mythical Emperor stuck on better following a prominent run on the grandstand side to make it close for a placing in an improved run after stable and gear change. He's better over the 1,200m. Plunged late, Blocker Dee was picking them off late after travelling third from the rear. He's more effective at the Valley and might need to drop a few points in the handicaps.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (376)-FAT CHOI HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1000Metres

BLOCKER DEE began only fairly and then despite being ridden along in the early stages failed to muster speed.

HIT THE BID and TRIUMPHANT JEWEL were crowded for room on jumping between HAPPY METEOR and TURF SPRINT which shifted out.

In this incident, HIT THE BID and TURF SPRINT bumped heavily, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced.

MY LITTLE FRIEND was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

For some distance approaching and passing the 300 Metres, HIT THE BID was awkwardly placed close to the heels of HAPPY METEOR (Apprentice K K Chiong) when attempting to improve to the outside of that horse.

HIT THE BID was then checked when crowded for room between HAPPY METEOR which shifted out marginally under pressure when commencing to give ground and MY LITTLE FRIEND which initially shifted in slightly before being taken in by MYTHICAL EMPEROR.

Whilst the interference suffered by HIT THE BID was of some significance, the Stewards were satisfied that the shift from HAPPY METEOR was not a great one in the circumstances and that the incident had been compounded by MY LITTLE FRIEND being taken out further by another runner.

Nonetheless, Apprentice Chiong was advised to ensure that she makes every effort to prevent her mounts from shifting particularly when they are weakening.

BLOCKER DEE was held up for clear running for some distance approaching and passing the 200 Metres.

A veterinary inspection of COUNTRY MELODY, ADVENTURER and HAPPY METEOR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

MR STUNNING and ARCHIPPUS were sent for sampling.
