Alice Lee, 11, St Francis’ Canossian College: If I could swap lives with any character from a book for a week, I would choose Annabeth Chase from the Percy Jackson series. I want to experience the life of a demigod fighting evil and going on adventures frequently. I want to try using her gadgets like the invisible Yankee cap. I also want to meet other demigods and creatures from camp, such as the nymphs and the satyrs. I want to experience fighting monsters and wielding weapons.
Li Nga-ki, 16, Carmel Alison Lam Foundation Secondary School: I want to be Doraemon because he has an array of secret gadgets. If I became Doraemon for a week, I would utilise all of them. For example, I would use the “memory bread” to help me remember the test material to improve my grades. I would also use the time machine to go back in time to meet my relatives who have passed away. Additionally, I would like to use the “anywhere door” to go anywhere I want without paying for plane tickets.
Viann Chan Wai-yan, 13, STFA Seaward Woo College: If I could, I would swap lives with Joy from Inside Out. I want to be happy for a week, even when the main character faces difficulties. I would love to care for the main character and for my emotional mates, who are there to support all of us.
Ian Wong Hui-yiu, 16, Sing Yin Secondary School: If I could switch lives with any character from The Night Circus, I would choose Celia Bowen. Just imagine having her magical abilities and being part of that enchanting circus! The black and white theme is just striking – picture those dazzling tents against a starry sky, creating a dreamy atmosphere. Celia’s love for the whimsical wonders of the circus lets her craft incredible illusions that leave everyone in awe. I would have a blast exploring this magical world.
Carrie Yan Ka-wai, 16, Tsuen Wan Public Ho Chuen Yiu Memorial College: If given the chance, I would swap lives with Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series for a week. Hermione possesses intelligence, bravery and a deep loyalty to her friends. I admire her quick thinking, magical abilities and unwavering determination to stand up for what is right. Stepping into her shoes would allow me to experience the magical world of Hogwarts, confront challenges with wit and courage, and learn from her strength and resilience.

Kate Sze Wing-ki, 15, Leung Shek Chee College: If I could swap lives with any character from the Mulan series for a week, I would choose Mushu, the dragon. As Mulan’s loyal guardian, Mushu brings humour and wit to the story while also playing a crucial role in Mulan’s journey. Experiencing life as a small, magical dragon would be exhilarating, allowing me to explore the world from a unique perspective. I would also enjoy the ability to use magic to help Mulan succeed in her quest, all while providing comic relief in challenging situations.
Nicole Jiang Yan-yuet, 15, Fanling Rhenish Church Secondary School: I want to swap my life with Mickey Mouse because Mickey has no pressure of studying and exams. He needs to dance and play with his friends every day. At the same time, Mickey has magic; when he has any problem, he can always find out how to solve it with magic. It is so convenient and easy to use. Mickey also lives my dream – he has a dog called Bruto. I hope I can have a dog too!
Bosco Yue Wing-hon, 13, St Paul’s Co-Educational College: Exchanging lives with a fictional character may seem preposterous; however, if given the opportunity, I would choose to swap with Kirito from Sword Art Online. The most exciting aspect of embodying Kirito is the immersive reality presented in the story’s universe, where countless virtual reality games closely resemble actual life. I would relish the sensation of soaring through vast cities and engaging in battles with formidable monsters without the risk of injury. Additionally, I would have the chance to interact with artificial intelligences that possess genuine thoughts and emotions. I am sure that this would be an extraordinarily unforgettable experience.
To Lam-fong, 14, TWGHs Li Ka Shing College: It would be Hachiware from Chiikawa. Hachiware is an adorable catlike character who is outgoing, always patient with friends and a master at cooking. In contrast, I’m not a very chatty person. The food that appears suddenly from anywhere in the story appeals to me. Therefore, I would like to swap lives with Hachiware to experience making delicacies by picking that food and learning how the cat brings joy to its friends.
Wilson Wong Wai-shing, 15, Pok Oi Hospital 80th Anniversary Tang Ying Hei College: I want to swap lives with Sora from No Game No Life for a week. I want to play the games as the character because, in the series, playing games is exciting, and I can play different kinds of games. For example, Elf has a magical power that allows her to see the face of cards. In the plot, Sora can win under these conditions, so I also want to try if I could win as Sora. And I also want to try different kinds of games.
