After a wide trip with cover from behind midfield, favourite Sunny Da Best ran on nicely to get up 20m out for a second win from nine starts. He was able to back up an unlucky second last start following a step back to 1,200m. Invincible Lucky found one just too good after assuming the lead 700m out from gate three with blinkers back on. He's a winner waiting to happen following placings in back-to-back runs. Punted late, My Flying Angel ran on nicely to just take third after jumping slowly from gate one and travelling third last. It was his best run from 12 starts with a step back in distance. Panda closed well down the outside from the rear of the field to just snatch fourth after jumping slowly. He relished a return to the course and distance of a close third two runs ago. Island Buddy grudgingly gave way after settling in between runners in third from a tricky gate. He's given a decent sight in his past three starts and can bob up at any moment. After firming late in betting, Triumphant Warrior stayed on all right after getting held up from the 350m until the 200m following a one-off trip from midfield. He had an excuse.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four : (340) - WU KAU TANG HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 SUNNY DA BEST (J118) Z Purton Bumped on jumping by ISLAND BUDDY.

Shortly after the start was then checked when crowded by ISLAND BUDDY (M Chadwick) which shifted in and away from NOBLE DELUXE (A Hamelin) which shifted in.

Both M Chadwick and A Hamelin were advised to exercise more care and make a greater effort to prevent their mounts from shifting ground in similar circumstances.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 PANDA (H466) A Atzeni Sow to begin.

Horse No 4 FANTASTIC HONOUR (K100) K Teetan After the 900 Metres, when racing greenly, was steadied to avoid TRIUMPHANT WARRIOR.

Approaching the 400 Metres was taken wider by MY FLYING ANGEL which shifted out to improve.

Horse No 5 NOBLE DELUXE (K052) A Hamelin Shifted in at the start and was bumped.

Near the 150 Metres, when giving ground, shifted out after being eased to avoid RIDING HIGH when that runner lay in and away from SUNNY DA BEST.

Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 6 FLYING DOUBLE (J388) H Bowman From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Approaching the 450 Metres was taken wider.

In the early part of the Home Straight hung in and proved difficult to ride out, resulting in its rider H Bowman changing his whip through to his right hand near the 300 Metres.

Horse No 7 ISLAND BUDDY (J217) M Chadwick Bumped at the start.

Near the 250 Metres was steadied to avoid TRIUMPHANT WARRIOR (C L Chau) which shifted in to obtain clear running.

C L Chau was advised to exercise more care.

Horse No 8 INVINCIBLE LUCKY (J119) B Avdulla After the event, B Avdulla stated that the intention was to find a position with cover but in the early stages when runners to his outside did not show intent to lead INVINCIBLE LUCKY maintained the lead without being pressured to do so.

Trainer M Newnham confirmed the instructions were from an inside barrier to hold a more forward position than at its previous race starts, particularly with blinkers being reapplied but had not expected INVINCIBLE LUCKY to lead the event.

Horse No 9 LUCKY BLESSING (K073) Y L Chung Approaching the 450 Metres was hampered when taken wider by RIDING HIGH which shifted out to improve.

Horse No 10 MY FLYING ANGEL (J174) A Badel Shifted out, made contact with the left side of its barrier on jumping and lost ground.

Horse No 11 TRIUMPHANT WARRIOR (H430) C L Chau Between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres was held up for clear running.

Over the concluding stages could not be fully ridden out when positioned close to SUNNY DA BEST.

After the event, C L Chau reported that when the pace of the event steadied near the 600 Metres TRIUMPHANT WARRIOR commenced to race keenly and was steadied for some distance thereafter when awkwardly placed close to RIDING HIGH.

Horse No BIG RED (H299) M F Poon BIG RED, Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 11.1.25 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore).

Before being allowed to race again, BIG RED will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
