Recap by phillip woo

Veteran Excellent Daddy came with a sterling move down the outside to deny Patch Of Watch and land back-to-back wins after a patient ride travelling wide towards the rear. Patch of Watch wouldn't go down without a fight after claiming the lead outright 450m out following a pace-prompting run along the inside from gate two with the claim well utilised. It was his best performance from 13 starts. Post-time favourite Sky Prophet ran on steadily for third after a rails run from midfield. It was an improved run following a downgrade and switch in surfaces. Falcon Court stayed on well for fourth after vying for the front in between runners from a tricky gate. He was able to back up a pleasing fifth when ridden for luck when trying this surface for the first time last month. Currahee was making inroads late near the inside after biding his time one from the rear. It was a better effort following a downgrade and return to the dirt 1,200m. Smart Leader ran on without threatening after making his run one off travelling behind midfield. He's in the right grade again but the big weight took its toll.
