Race Eight : (344) - HEBE HAVEN HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters
Horse No 2 AWESOME TREASURE (E435) P N Wong Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 3 I P O BROS (K193) B Thompson Shortly after the start was steadied when crowded between AWESOME TREASURE and CALL ME GLORIOUS which shifted in and away from SUGAR BALL despite the efforts of its rider.
Horse No 4 LUCKY EIGHT (G204) C L Chau Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 CALL ME GORGEOUS (K091) M Chadwick Shifted in at the start and was bumped on the hindquarters.
Over the concluding stages shifted in and was steadied away from GOKO WIN when that runner shifted out slightly.
After the event, M Chadwick reported that his mount, which was having its first race start in Hong Kong, would derive benefit from today's race experience.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 6 MASTEROFMYUNIVERSE (J325) Z Purton Jumped only fairly and was bumped by ANOTHER ZONDA.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 7 MATTERS MOST (K154) A Atzeni Near the 250 Metres was steadied when crowded between SUGAR BALL and GREAT STATE (M L Yeung) which, when being steadied away from CALL ME GLORIOUS, shifted out.
M L Yeung was advised to exercise more care.
Horse No 8 SUGAR BALL (H394) K C Leung Lay in in the Home Straight.
Horse No 10 AURORA PATCH (K097) K Teetan Jumped only fairly.
In the early stages raced keenly and for some distance near the 900 Metres was steadied to avoid LUCKY EIGHT.
Raced ungenerously in the Home Straight.
Approaching the 200 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when improving between AWESOME TREASURE and ANOTHER ZONDA.
Horse No 11 GOKO WIN (H069) A Pouchin After being crossed by ANOTHER ZONDA near the 900 Metres commenced to race keenly and was steadied to avoid that runner for some distance thereafter.
Near the 350 Metres endeavoured to obtain a narrow run between AWESOME TREASURE and CALL ME GLORIOUS.
When AWESOME TREASURE shifted out slightly, GOKO WIN then had difficulty obtaining clear running until near the 250 Metres.
Horse No 12 GREAT STATE (J124) M L Yeung Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and was steadied away from LUCKY EIGHT.
After being shifted behind MATTERS MOST near the 1100 Metres then raced keenly near the 1000 Metres and was steadied when positioned close to MATTERS MOST.
Between the 300 Metres and the 200 Metres was held up for clear running behind CALL ME GLORIOUS.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, GREAT STATE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

After making his run from fourth last following a sluggish start, odds-on favourite Masterofmyuniverse got up in the final few strides for back-to-back wins despite a rise in class. He's headed for better things. Lucky Eight did everything right but found one just too good after a prominent run on the fence. It was another honest effort over the Sha Tin 1,200m. Punted late, Young Superstar was pipped close to home after getting pressured for the lead to his outside by Another Zonda and Awesome Treasure. He's not easy to run down if he secures the lead. Sugar Ball ran on well for fourth without threatening the top three after being ridden for luck second last from gate 12. He hasn't disgraced in his three starts in this grade following a second Class Four win in November. Goko Win made only a mild bid after a one-off trip from midfield to just take fifth. He has trouble putting together two good runs. Aurora Patch ran on steadily for sixth after getting held up for a run from the 350m to the 100m travelling keenly three back on the fence. It was a better effort at his second local start.
