Recap by phillip woo
Well-backed Bravehearts showed a good turn of foot to get up 50m out after a patient ride three from the rear for back-to-back wins despite a rise in trip. He's a vastly improved runner this season for his new trainer Mark Newnham. Family Jewel dashed well with two wider out to finish a close second after making his run from second. It was a fine effort up in grade. Sunstrider found a couple just too smart after rushing to the lead 200m out following a prominent run on the fence. It was a solid effort with a step up to 2,000m. Athleticism came from last for fourth without threatening the top three. It was an encouraging effort at his first go over 2,000m. Supreme Agility was next best after having to hit the brakes 50m out after a one-off trip from just better than midfield. It was another honest performance. Early favourite Eighteen Carat was yielding ground over the final 100m after working forward three wide to sit outside the leader 1,500m out. He had an excuse.
