Recap by phillip woo

Well-backed Mission Voice kept finding after turning the final bend a length on top dictating the pace from gate nine for a first win at his seventh start. Chater Gold roared home late along the inside to finish a close second after a one-off trip from behind midfield. It was clearly his best run. Super Unicorn found a couple too good after a prominent run on the fence. He has flashed ability in his five starts and can bob up at any moment. Invincible Missile came from last after his usual tardy start to fill the frame. He was able to add to back-to-back thirds in his two prior runs across both tracks. Meepmeep just plodded after a handy run wide without cover from gate 13. Let's Do It ran on without threatening after a one-off trip from behind midfield. Tradition made some ground late without threatening near the inside after making his run five back on the fence. Favourite Lucky Touch only plodded over the final 100m after getting posted three deep sitting near the speed from gate 14.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six : (807) - THE CHAN TROPHY (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1600Meters

Horse No 1 WAH MAY WAI WAI (J193) Y L Chung Throughout the early stages over-raced, got its head up and near the 1400 Metres shifted out and made contact with LAUGH TALE which was then steadied when racing tight to the inside of LUCKY TOUCH.

Horse No 2 COMING PATCH (G222) C Y Ho Jumped awkwardly.

Between the 350 Metres and the 50 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 LAUGH TALE (G406) K C Leung Steadied near the 1400 Metres when racing tight between WAY MAY WAI WAI and LUCKY TOUCH.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 ONLY U (J037) L Hewitson Jumped only fairly and from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 6 LUCKY TOUCH (J203) Z Purton When questioned, Z Purton stated that his instructions from the outside barrier were to ride his mount in a forward position, particularly with the expected lack of early pace in the event.

He said the instructions issued today were similar to those issued at the horse's last start, however, LUCKY TOUCH was caught wide in the early stages due to that race being run at a faster pace than today.

He said as a result LUCKY TOUCH settled back on that occasion.

He added that approaching the first turn today he was able to obtain a position with cover behind the equal leader LAUGH TALE, but when MEEPMEEP improved to his outside near the 800 Metres, he was obliged to shift to the outside of LAUGH TALE as he was concerned that runner would not take him into the race.

He said as a result LUCKY TOUCH raced wide and without cover from that point before responding only fairly to his riding in the Home Straight.

He further stated that, in his opinion, having regard to the manner in which his mount raced today, it may be better suited being ridden in a conservative manner in the early stages.

Trainer J Richards confirmed the instructions issued and stated they were consistent with the instructions at the horse's last start and also were issued as he felt it would be advantageous to race in an on-pace position on today's C course.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Sent for sampling post-race.
