Recap by phillip woo

Beauty Fit wove a run near the inside after a prominent run on the fence to deny Hasten Delight in the final few metres for a well-deserved second win this term. Hasten Delight kept up a good gallop to just miss after going straight to the front from gate 11. It was another genuine effort despite a step up in distance. Sunlight Power ran on nicely through the middle to finish a close third after biding his time three from the rear. It was a good run carrying more weight following a win. Super Goldi ran on steadily for fourth after a rail run from behind midfield. It was his best effort from three straight runs in Class Three. Turin Starspangled kept on OK after chasing the leader on the fence from gate eight. Find My Love ran on without threatening after making his run two from the rear. Favourite Thunder Blink struggled at the back. This was a different kettle of fish after two Griffin wins.

Horse No 1 HASTEN DELIGHT (J229) L Ferraris Bumped shortly after the start.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 FIND MY LOVE (H110) M L Yeung Briefly held up for clear running near the 400 Metres.

Horse No 3 SUNLIGHT POWER (H244) A Hamelin In the early stages raced keenly and for some distance after the 1000 Metres was steadied to avoid OUR LUCKY GLORY.

Horse No 4 BEAUTY GLORY (E459) Y L Chung After the race, Y L Chung stated that whilst his mount was obliged to race wide and without cover, it raced flat today.

Horse No 5 BEAUTY FIT (E279) H Bowman Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 7 TURIN STARSPANGLED (J209) A Atzeni Near the 50 Metres was steadied to avoid BEAUTY FIT.

Horse No 8 FANTASTIC FUN (J364) C Y Ho Jumped only fairly.

After the race, C Y Ho reported that his mount, which was having it second race start in Hong Kong, would derive benefit from toady's performance.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 9 LESLIE (E471) K Teetan Shortly after the start shifted out and bumped HASTEN DELIGHT.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 10 SUPER GOLDI (H477) Z Purton Raced tight to the inside of SUNLIGHT POWER for some distance after the 50 Metres.

Horse No 11 SWEET BRIAR (H044) L Hewitson Near the 50 Metres, when giving ground, was steadied when crowded between SUPER GOLDI which was taken in slightly by SUNLIGHT POWER and TURIN STARSPANGLED which was taken out by BEAUTY FIT (H Bowman).

H Bowman was advised to exercise more care.

Horse No 12 THUNDER BLINK (J019) M Chadwick When questioned regarding the performance of THUNDER BLINK, M Chadwick stated that from a favourable barrier the intention was to endeavour to hold a midfield position.

He said THUNDER BLINK jumped only fairly and then was quickly crossed by runners to his outside which resulted in his mount settling back in the field.

He added with the middle stages of the event being run outside of standard time, THUNDER BLINK did not travel well and for this reason he elected to allow his mount to follow SUNLIGHT POWER into the event from the 800 Metres.

He added his initial intention was to improve to the inside of SUNLIGHT POWER making the Home Turn but when BEAUTY GLORY commenced to give ground in advance, he was obliged to shift to the outside of SUNLIGHT POWER to obtain clear running.

He further stated that when placed under pressure in the Home Straight THUNDER BLINK, which was having its only third race start in Hong Kong, lay out and did not respond to his riding which he attributed to the horse's inexperience.

Trainer K H Ting confirmed the instructions were to endeavour to hold a more forward position and stated that with THUNDER BLINK stepping up to Class 3 grade today, its inexperience resulted in it not being able to race in a competitive manner.

He added that THUNDER BLINK would now be given a let-up for the remainder of the season.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of THUNDER BLINK was considered to be disappointing as compared to its previous race starts.

Before being allowed to race again, THUNDER BLINK will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Sent for sampling post-race.
