Racing Incident Report
Race Eight : (682) - BEAS RIVER COUNTRY CLUB 1400M HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 SUNNY DA BEST (J118) K De Melo After the race, K De Melo reported that his mount raced too keenly in the lead, particularly when VANTASTIC CHOICE improved to its outside approaching the 1000 Metres and as a consequence was left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 FOOLISH HEART (J054) K C Leung Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
After the race, K C Leung reported that his mount made an abnormal breathing noise during the event.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 3 D STAR (G374) Y L Chung At declaration time, Y L Chung was declared as the rider of both D STAR and SUPER LEGENDS.
It was established that Y L Chung had a firm commitment to ride D STAR.
As such, the Stewards permitted H Bowman to be substituted as the rider of SUPER LEGENDS.
For this declaration error, Y L Chung was fined $2,000.
Horse No 4 CELTIC TIMES (G230) K Teetan Jumped only fairly.
After the race, K Teetan reported that his mount would prefer a firmer surface.
Trainer W K Mo agreed with the assessment of Jockey Teetan.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 6 WINNING TURN (J163) M F Poon Lay out making the Home Turn and near the 500 Metres was steadied away from STRATHPEFFER.
Horse No 7 LUCKY TOUCH (J203) Z Purton When questioned, Z Purton stated that his intention was to hold a more forward position, but LUCKY TOUCH was slightly fractious in the barriers and then was slow to begin and as a result settled towards the rear of the field.
He said making the Home Turn he commenced to improve into the event and after shifting to the inside of CELTIC TIMES near the 400 Metres he placed his mount under pressure.
He added that approaching the 300 Metres he was disappointed for clear running between ISLAND GOLDEN and GOLDEN DARCI which shifted in and as a result directed his mount to that runner's outside.
He further stated that between the 300 Metres and the 200 Metres he was unable to obtain clear running when improving into a narrow run between GOLDEN DARCI and FOOLISH HEART which was giving ground.
He said approaching the 50 Metres he then directed his mount to the outside of MISSION VOICE to continue into clear running.
Horse No 10 GOLDEN DARCI (H470) A Badel When giving ground and racing tight to the inside of LUCKY TOUCH shifted in and made contact with ISLAND GOLDEN near the 150 Metres.
Horse No 11 MISSION VOICE (H444) L Ferraris Near the 900 Metres when racing keenly was steadied away from VANTASTIC CHOICE.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 12 YOUNG HORIZON (G272) E C W Wong On jumping was bumped by SUPER LEGENDS which shifted in.
Despite being ridden along thereafter failed to show sufficient pace to hold a more forward position.
Horse No 14 STRATHPEFFER (H095) M Chadwick Noted to have sustained a minor abrasion to the right hind cannon after the race.

Strathpeffer came with a bold move near the outside to win going away 100m out after a three wide with cover run from behind midfield for a first win at his 19th start. Specked late Mission Voice found one just too good after moving to the lead 150m out following a prominent run. The move to blinkers nearly worked the oracle. Super Unicorn ran on well for third after biding his time three from the rear. He has shown natural progress in his three starts. Punted late Lucky Touch wove a run late for fourth without much room for a good part of the straight after a patient ride one from the rear. He is a winner waiting to happen. Young Horizon made headway late near the outside to just miss the frame after wide trip towards the rear from a wide draw. It was another honest effort. Super Legends came up one paced over the last 100m after a three wide trip from midfield. Vantastic Choice weakened in the stretch drive after going forward from gate 13 to track the leader 1,100m out. Favourite Sunny Da Best was stopping 150m out after rolling to the lead from gate six. He couldn't cope carrying 12 pounds more following a win.
