Recap by phillip woo

Newcomer The Winnabe kept finding after hitting the lead 20m out following a handy run one off the fence to just defeat favourite and another first-time starter Super Infinity. Super Infinity came to win the race just underneath the 200m after a patient ride travelling third last but peaked on his run 50m out. It was nevertheless an eye-catching debut performance. Punted late Happy For All finished a distant third after having to regain his composure when hampered 200m out following a rails run from behind midfield. He should have finished closer. Yoda's Choice ran on steadily for fourth after a wide with cover trip from behind midfield. It was a positive performance trying the Sha Tin 1,200m for the first time. Sky Song weakened after a speed-tracking run. He is still learning the ropes. Mighty Strength made ground late after making his run one from the rear following an awkward start. It was an improved effort at his second career start. Crystal Powerful kept on one paced after a wide with cover trip from midfield. Taihang Scenery will sleep well after chasing the speed wide without cover the entire trip.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two : (676) - RACING PASSION 1200M HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 SAKEWIN (G275) M F Poon After the race, M F Poon could offer no explanation for his mount's disappointing performance.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

The performance of SAKEWIN, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, SAKEWIN will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 4 MIGHTY STRENGTH (H450) A Hamelin Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.

Approaching the 900 Metres after improving to the inside of HAPPY FOR ALL (K C Leung) was then steadied when crowded by that runner.

K C Leung was advised to exercise more care.

Horse No 5 SUPER INFINITY (J320) Z Purton Jumped only fairly.

After the 1000 Metres commenced to race keenly after being crossed by HAPPY FOR ALL and was steadied away from the heels of that runner.

After the 400 Metres was shifted to the outside of HAPPY FOR ALL to obtain clear running.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 TAIHANG SCENERY (J314) C L Chau After the race, C L Chau reported that in the early stages his mount, after jumping well, raced keenly and as a result he was obliged to allow TAIHANG SCENERY to hold a more forward position.

He added that as a result TAIHANG SCENERY was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 7 THE WINNABE (J251) H Bowman Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 8 THUNDERBOLTAURUS B (J281) A Badel Jumped awkwardly and made contact with the left side of its barrier.

Horse No 9 YODA'S CHOICE (J146) C Y Ho Jumped only fairly.

Lay out on the Home Turn.

Horse No 10 HAPPY FOR ALL (H181) K C Leung After the 400 Metres was held up for clear running behind TAIHANG SCENERY and shifted to that runner's inside after the 350 Metres to obtain clear running.

M L Yeung (SKY SONG) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 200 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of HAPPY FOR ALL, resulting in HAPPY FOR ALL being checked and losing its running.

M L Yeung was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 26 May 2024 and to expire on Thursday, 30 May 2024 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).

In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 1 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his poor race riding record.

Noted to have lost its left front plate after the race.

Horse No 11 SKY SONG (J159) M L Yeung After the race, M L Yeung reported that his mount jumped well today and as a consequence settled in a more forward position.

M L Yeung was found guilty of a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 200 Metres (see HAPPY FOR ALL).

Horse No 3 CAMP FIRE (J259) L Hewitson Was a late withdrawal acting on veterinary advice after sustaining a head injury in the stables and being found to have blood present at the left nostril.

An endoscopic examination conducted on CAMP FIRE found that there was no blood in its trachea and therefore the horse was deemed not to have bled.

Before being allowed to race again, CAMP FIRE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
