Racing Incident Report
Race One : (503) - CASTLE PEAK HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 SPANGLE FORTUNE (G427) K C Leung After the race, K C Leung stated that his mount failed to finish the race off in the Home Straight which he attributed to SPANGLE FORTUNE carrying the top weight of 135 lbs.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 MORE RICE (H271) C L Chau Near the 250 Metres was bumped and approaching the 200 Metres C L Chau momentarily dropped his right rein.
Horse No 3 HAPPY TANGO (D075) B Avdulla Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 VALIANT ELEGANCE (D285) E C W Wong Over the final 250 Metres shifted out under pressure, resulting in its rider Apprentice E C W Wong correcting at the 200 Metres.
Apprentice Wong was advised in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mounts sooner than what he did on this occasion.
He was further advised that his riding out over the final 150 Metres was also of concern that he should have made a greater effort to straighten his mount up as it continued to shift out under pressure.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 SMART LEADER (B456) K De Melo Shortly after the start was hampered when bumped on the hindquarters.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event and lay out making the turn in the middle stages.
Approaching the 250 Metres K De Melo lowered his visor.
Horse No 6 PRESTIGE MOOCHI (H314) B Thompson Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 7 CASA LEGEND (G126) A Atzeni Jumped only fairly.
Passing the 250 Metres made contact with MORE RICE when racing in restricted room between MORE RICE and SUPER JOY which shifted out.
Horse No 8 ALL IS READY (G042) K Teetan Shortly after the start was bumped by VALIANT ELEGANCE which shifted out.
Horse No 9 EIGHT TRIGRAMS (C102) Y L Chung After the race, Apprentice Y L Chung could offer no explanation for his mount's disappointing performance.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 10 SUPER JOY (G251) M Chadwick From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 11 CHIRON (E151) H Bentley Over the final 50 Metres could not be ridden out when positioned close to MORE RICE and ALL IS READY.
After the race, H Bentley stated that his mount was out-paced in the early stages and finished the race off only fairly.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

After moving to the front 250m out following a pace-pressing run outside Eight Trigrams, Valiant Elegance just scrambled home to score his seventh win from 49 starts. Super Joy, ridden patiently two from the rear from gate 11, motored late after getting into the clear 250m out to just miss. He's racing very well over the dirt 1,200m without winning. Smart Leader stayed on nicely to make it very close on the wire after getting caught four wide without cover the entire trip travelling midfield from a tricky gate. Happy Tango kept on well for fourth without menacing the top three after a box seat run. It was another honest effort after a midweek third at the Valley. More Rice was next best after a wide with cover trip from midfield. All Is Ready made some ground late near the outside after biding his time four from the rear. Spangle Fortune weakened after a one-out, one-back run. He couldn't cope carrying more weight following a win.
