Racing Incident Report
Race Seven : (509) - THE ASSOCIATION OF HONG KONG RACING JOURNALISTS CHALLENGECUP (HANDICAP) - Class 3 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 YELLOWFIN (G326) E C W Wong Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 2 ARMOUR EAGLE (G093) A Hamelin Jumped awkwardly.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea.
Horse No 3 VICTORY MOMENTS (H142) M Chadwick Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 SMOKEY BEAR (E126) Z Purton On jumping blundered badly, became unbalanced and lost ground.
After the race, Z Purton reported that when he felt there was something amiss with his mount in the Home Straight he did not ride it out to the finish when not in a competitive position.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
The performance of SMOKEY BEAR was considered to be disappointing as compared to its previous race starts.
Before being allowed to race again, SMOKEY BEAR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 7 GOOD BUDDY (E097) A Badel Bumped shortly after the start.
Horse No 8 SELF IMPROVEMENT (H337) K C Leung Jumped only fairly and then became unbalanced when crowded shortly after the start by GOOD BUDDY which shifted in.
Horse No 11 SING DRAGON (J141) K Teetan Sent for sampling post-race.

Sing Dragon kept up a strong gallop after skipping clear by three lengths mid-straight leading from gate six for a first local win at his third start and first on the dirt surface. He's quickly come to hand and can win again. Victory Moments ran on nicely for second after a wide with cover run from midfield. He was able to back up with another good run carrying more weight following a win. Fast Buck stayed on nicely to snare third after a box seat run. It was another good run despite a rise in class. Yellowfin kept on gamely to just miss a placing after a handy run wide without cover from the widest draw. It was another good run on the dirt despite a step back in distance. Good Buddy didn't have much left over the last 100m after working forward three wide to land a spot tracking the leader 700m out. Self Improvement ran on steadily without threatening after a rail run from midfield. He has disappointed in his past five starts. Smoking Bear was a non-factor after knuckling over and missing the start.
