Horse No 2 ADEFILL (G317) J McDonald Hampered on jumping when taken out by SMOKEY BEAR.
Horse No 4 PACKING BOLE (H246) A Atzeni Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 PULSAR STRIDER (G407) Y L Chung Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.

Horse No 6 SELF IMPROVEMENT (H337) Z Purton Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 7 MARK THE MOMENT (H088) C L Chau Obliged to race wide and without cover in the middle stages.
Horse No 8 SEIZING THE MOMENT (E444) L Currie Slow to begin and then was steadied when crowded shortly after the start.

Horse No 11 ENFOLDED (H336) C Y Ho Shortly after the start was bumped heavily by ADEFILL and became unbalanced.
Horse No 12 FORTUNE WARRIOR (H229) K Teetan When questioned, K Teetan stated that he was instructed with the anticipated strong early pace to ride FORTUNE WARRIOR behind the speed with cover.
He said after being positioned behind AMAZING DUCK near the 650 Metres, FORTUNE WARRIOR commenced to race keenly and got its head up when being checked away from the heels of that runner for some distance thereafter.
Trainer P C Ng confirmed the instructions issued.

Specked late, Smokey Bear won going away near 100m after peeling out 300m out following a box seat run to remain perfect from two starts on this surface from 17 starts. He has points in hand on this surface after going okay in first two starts at the Valley this term. Favourite Packing Bole just held on for second after vying for the front one off the fence from gate two. It was a good run carrying 12 pounds more following an easy win last start. Plunged late Self Improvement stayed on well to just miss second after a wide without cover run from midfield. He has continued to race well in consecutive races following a win. Adefill ran on steadily for fourth after a rails run from midfield following a tardy start. He's an honest performance on this surface. Amazing Duck kept on all right after a one-out, one-back run. It was a better effort second-up trying the dirt. Fortune Warrior just held his ground after a one-off trip from midfield. It wasn't a hopeless effort with a switch in surfaces. Mark The Moment finished next best after getting caught very wide without cover from behind midfield.
