Race Six : (200) - CHEVALIER BUILDING SUPPLIES & ENGINEERING HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 OWNERS' PRAISE (H047) Z Purton From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 2 BEATO (H090) Y L Chung Held up between the 350 Metres and the 250 Metres before obtaining a narrow run inside SUPER LEGENDS.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 ENDEARED (H161) K Teetan Bumped near the 450 Metres.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 4 FUN TOGETHER (H041) C L Chau Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 SUPER LEGENDS (H364) J McDonald Knuckled over shortly after the start.
Lay out on the Home Turn and under pressure in the Home Straight.
Passing the 250 Metres was taken out and bumped.
Horse No 6 HAPPY FOR ALL (H181) B Avdulla Jumped only fairly and then was badly crowded shortly after the start.
In this incident blundered when struck the heels of SONIC BOOM.
Horse No 7 CELTIC TIMES (G230) M Chadwick Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 8 STERLING WONGCHOY (H273) L Ferraris From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Raced keenly in the early stages and approaching the 1100 Metres was steadied away from SUNLIGHT POWER.
Horse No 9 SUNLIGHT POWER (H244) K C Leung In the middle stages raced keenly and for some distance after the 900 Metres was steadied away from YOUNG HORIZON.
From the 550 Metres was held up for clear running and near the 450 Metres shifted to the outside of YOUNG HORIZON to secure clear running and in doing so bumped ENDEARED.
Apprentice Y L Chung (BEATO) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after improving into a narrow run to the inside of SUPER LEGENDS passing the 250 Metres, he allowed his mount to shift out, resulting in SUPER LEGENDS being taken out across the running of YOUNG HORIZON, resulting in YOUNG HORIZON being unnecessarily crowded and steadied and YOUNG HORIZON then being taken out, causing SUNLIGHT POWER to be checked away from the heels of YOUNG HORIZON.
Apprentice Chung was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 6 December 2023 and to expire on Monday, 11 December 2023 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).
In addition, Apprentice Chung was fined $60,000.
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade
2.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 10 MR ALADDIN (H386) A Atzeni Near the 100 Metres, A Atzeni dropped his whip.
Horse No 11 MASSIVE TALENT (H282) L Hewitson After the race, L Hewitson advised that with the horse stepping up in distance today, he was instructed to ride MASSIVE TALENT in a more prominent position.
Horse No 14 YOUNG HORIZON (G272) C Y Ho Raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages.
Passing the 250 Metres was steadied when crowded.
When questioned, C Y Ho stated that his instructions were to hold a forward position but not to make use of his mount to do so as at its last start YOUNG HORIZON had not finished the race off strongly when ridden in this manner.
He said in the early stages when positioned to the outside of SUPER LEGENDS, he elected not to ride his mount forward to cross that runner as he was mindful of his instructions.
He said he then endeavoured to obtain a position behind SUPER LEGENDS near the 1200 Metres, but when MR ALADDIN improved to his inside, he was then unable to shift in which resulted in YOUNG HORIZON being obliged to race wide and without cover for the remainder of the event.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Punted late Fun Together kept on gamely after clearing to the lead 1,000m out to make it back-to-back wins following a step up to 1,400m. He's in good form but will find things harder in Class Three. Celtic Times ran on nicely to take second 100m out after chasing the leader pair one off the fence from gate 10. He's a winner waiting to happen after placing in three of four starts this term. Favourite Beato got up in the late stages for third after pushing out for a run between runners 200m out from behind midfield on the fence. He's racing well without winning. Massive Talent kept on reasonably well for fourth after a change in tactics to track the speed from gate eight. He's heading in the right direction. Supported late Owners' Praise came just failed to miss a top-four spot ridden cold from gate 14. It was a good effort in defeat. Super Legends just held his ground after a prominent run one off the fence. He was in a richer test after two solid efforts in restricted races. Specked late Happy For All ran on without threatening travelling second last following a slow start.
