1. No need for R 'n' R

One of the things I miss the most about school is the organised and tight schedule. Living a fast-paced life can often be exhausting but also exciting at the same time.

Veronica Lin, 15, Peddie School (US)

2. It's those after-school trips

My most vivid memories of school are the after-school trips to Causeway Bay with my best friend. We take the bus from school to Causeway Bay, where we treat ourselves to steaming egg waffles from a street vendor, cold and sweet bubble tea in Hysan Place, and some window shopping. I'm definitely looking forward to those "activities" once I get back to school.

Annette Kim Na-yeon, 15, Chinese International School

3. An education in snacking

Well, frankly speaking, there is only one thing that I miss about school - recess! That is when I take all the chips and wafers out of my bag. All my hungry friends rush to my desk and we start munching and gossiping. That is when our little feast begins.

Bidhya Shrestha, 17, St Paul's Convent School

4. School routine? What's that?

During the summer, you always wake up knowing what you'll do, and you end up doing the same thing every day. But at school, every day is different and you never know what will happen the next day. Maybe there'll be a fire drill to save you from the economics test, or a new TV will be installed outside your classroom, or there will be a new kid in your class. The little surprises we take for granted are actually what make school so much fun!

Charlotte Chan, 15, German Swiss International School

5. Feed me! Feed me!

You may be surprised, but I actually miss the canteen food. And also all my friends and hanging out with them.

Matthew Cheung, 17, Hong Kong International School

6. The calming white noise

Sitting alone at home in pin-drop silence is both boring and a little bit scary due to my over-active imagination. So I miss the harmonious chitter-chatter of my classmates.

Anna Rai, 16, St Margaret's Girls' College

7. It's a slam dunk

Being able to play basketball with my friends every day. Even though I play the sport once in a while during the summer, it's just not the same without friends and the anticipation of the next day's games.

Liam Fung, 12, Chinese International School

8. Parlez-vous?

I miss speaking and learning the language of love: French. Having spent my whole summer speaking only English, Putonghua and Cantonese, I'm looking forward to returning to the world of croissants and accented "e"s once school begins.

May Huang, 17, Chinese International School

9. 2+2 = snacks!

Without a doubt, I missed my maths class - especially the teacher's "bribes" of expensive grapes from Citysuper.

Helen Wong, 15, Sha Tin College

10. All's alive and well

I've missed school so much during the summer. Being the workaholic I am, school really gives me the regular stress that I crave - the busy school life, gossiping with friends, learning new things, catching up with my work ... all these things make me feel alive again!

Cherry Kong, 16, Clifton College (UK)
