The 23-year-old clocked a stunning 1:55.16, coming in second place in the semi-finals with 16 swimmers in total. Australia’s Ariarne Titmus, 20, finished first, with 1:54.82.

After the event, Haughey said that because the final will take place on Wednesday, she decided not to go all-out in the Tuesday semi-final.
“I hope I can break Hong Kong’s record. But I can’t give myself too much stress. I am just going to put up my best performance,” said Haughey.
Hong Kong’s record in women’s 200m freestyle, held by Haughey herself, is 1:54.89.

Haughey is under a lot of pressure to win another medal at the Tokyo Games after Cheung Ka-long put up a stunning performance and took gold in individual foil for fencing.
Asked if she was confident about winning a medal, she said: “I am not going to think too much. I am going to give it my best and see how it goes in the finals.”
The finals will take place at 9.41am (Hong Kong time) on Wednesday.
