Welcome to Young Post’s confession corner. We asked our readers if there was anything they wanted to express to someone special in their lives – from a crush to a best friend, or someone they lost touch with.

We received several heartfelt letters, and we hope these messages reach their intended recipients.

Distance doesn’t always make the heart grow fonder

Dear Conan,

There are still times when I miss you. I know we have spent months apart in different countries. And I know we had a bit of a falling out.

Regardless, I cannot help but think of how much fun we could still be having if we had stayed connected. We used to get along so well, laugh so much and explore together. Things used to be so carefree.

Then, I moved away, and after keeping in touch, you needed a break. Then, I moved back, and now you’ve moved away. Why must it be so complicated, so back and forth? I’d like to think that in another life, we could be amazing friends for life – or perhaps something more. But things just have not seemed to line up.

And that is OK. I hope you’re doing well regardless.

Sincerely,
Contemplative

Self-love on Valentine’s Day: how to show yourself some appreciation

BFF valentine

Dear Dan,

Happy Valentine’s Day! It’s OK if you do not have a valentine yet, because I’ll be yours for the time being! Thanks for being my best friend! I miss you and cannot wait to see you soon!

At a snail’s pace

Hey you,

You’ve caught the attention of quite the stoic individual (if I do say so myself). And I would like to be friends with you. We’ve got things in common, so I’m just waiting for you to think so too.

But I’ve been in a similar situation before, where I tried to get to know someone more. And I ended up falling for them. I don’t want to make the same mistake again. So I’ll keep my distance and bid my time. Until the day I’m finally OK with approaching you and saying hi.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

– On behalf of a friend

How much do you know about the origin of Valentine’s Day?

Turning over a new leaf

To you who once occupied my thoughts,

I’m over it; I really am. I remember the day when I told you, and it hurt. Your answer, leading me astray, making me ponder – so very unclear. A yes or a no? But I just assumed the latter.

I’m over it now. I’m turning over a new leaf. You said we’d be friends, but you never texted me. You said we’d be friends, but occasional greetings during class were where it ended.

This is a love letter. Not to you, but to me. For I’ve finally been unshackled and set myself free. The fact that I don’t think about you any more fills me with unrivalled glee.

Sincerely,
Over it
