Recap by phillip woo

Cervin was too good after shooting to the lead 200m out following a one-off trip from better than midfield for a first win at his ninth start. Invincible Missile charged home down the outside to finish a close second after turning the final bend one from the rear following a slow start. Ivictoriam ran on nicely through the middle to finish a non-threatening third after biding his time one from the rear. He relished both a downgrade and step up in distance. Cool Blue made good ground late towards the outside for fourth after covering ground towards the rear. It was his best run from three starts this season at his first go over the Valley 1,650m. Winning Seven made some ground for fifth after a one-off trip from behind midfield. He doesn't appear from his past two runs to be far off a bottom. Favourite Medic Elite ran on steadily without threatening after making his run worse than midfield on the fence. Red Maverick only plodded after a wide trip with cover from midfield. Superb Move faded after a pace-stalking run behind The Concentration. He's not racing well.

Racing Incident Report

Race One : (193) - LAU FAU SHAN HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1650Meters

Horse No 1 IVICTORIAM (J226) H Bowman From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Had difficulty obtaining clear running on the Home Turn.

H Bowman pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference approaching the 100 Metres (see TRIPLE BLISS).

Horse No 2 TRIPLE BLISS (J310) K C Leung H Bowman pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 100 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of WINNING SEVEN, resulting in WINNING SEVEN being taken in onto MEDIC ELITE, taking MEDIC ELITE across the running of TRIPLE BLISS, resulting in TRIPLE BLISS having to be checked.

H Bowman was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Wednesday, 11 December 2024 at Happy Valley.

In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his very good race riding record.

Horse No 4 RIGHT HONOURABLE (A164) M Chadwick Near the 350 Metres was checked to avoid FALCON COURT.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, RIGHT HONOURABLE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 5 FALCON COURT (J056) Z Purton When giving ground on the Home Turn was steadied when crowded between RED MAVERICK and WINNING SEVEN which shifted out slightly to improve.

After the event, Z Purton reported that his mount was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event and came under pressure on the Home Turn before weakening in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of FALCON COURT, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, FALCON COURT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 6 CERVIN (H253) K De Melo Jumped only fairly.

In the early stages raced keenly and near the 1200 Metres got its head up when being steadied away from SUPERB MOVE.

K De Melo was questioned in relation to his riding out of the horse to the finish.

He said over the concluding stages when he put his whip away, he reduced the vigour for a short period before recommencing when he observed INVINCIBLE MISSILE improving quickly to his outside.

Jockey De Melo was advised that at all times he should ensure that he fully rides his mounts out to the finish of the race so that he does not compromise his placing in the field.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 7 INVINCIBLE MISSILE (C037) A Hamelin Slow to begin.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 8 WINNING SEVEN (J005) H Bentley Jumped awkwardly.

Approaching the 100 Metres was hampered when taken in.

Horse No 10 MEDIC ELITE (G129) A Badel Approaching the 100 Metres was hampered when taken in.

When questioned, A Badel stated that after being held up on the Home Turn behind TRIPLE BLISS, he was able to improve to that runner's outside near the 300 Metres.

He said after obtaining a narrow run between WINNING SEVEN and TRIPLE BLISS, his mount was crowded near the 100 Metres and in the circumstances he was not too disappointed with the performance of the horse.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, MEDIC ELITE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Sent for sampling post-race.
