Racing Incident Report
Race One : (121) - HEBE HILL HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1800Meters
Horse No 1 GO GO GO (H196) Z Purton Held up for clear running making the Home Turn and near the 350 Metres was steadied when disappointing for clear running between GOLDEN FAIRY and FRUITY WARRIOR which was giving ground.
As a consequence, GO GO GO did not obtain clear running until near the 300 Metres.
Horse No 2 WINNING TURN (J163) M Chadwick When under pressure making the Home Turn and in the Home Straight hung out and proved difficult to ride.
After the event, M Chadwick advised that from a wide barrier and his mount stepping up in distance, he was asked to take up a forward position.
He said after complying with his instructions, WINNING TURN was able to lead the event.
Trainer P F Yiu confirmed the instructions issued and stated WINNING TURN had settled a little further back than intended at its last start.
Horse No 3 NICE BIRDIE (G470) H Bowman After the event, H Bowman stated that his mount jumped only fairly and as a consequence settled a little further back than intended but he could offer no explanation for his mount's disappointing performance.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The performance of NICE BIRDIE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, NICE BIRDIE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 4 FRUITY WARRIOR (J035) B Avdulla After the event, B Avdulla stated that after obtaining a position outside the lead his mount came under pressure on the Home Turn and weakened noticeably in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from the left nostril.
An endoscopic examination confirmed the horse to be a bleeder.
Before being allowed to race again, FRUITY WARRIOR will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 FURY AND GOLD (H202) C L Chau Jumped only fairly.
After the event, C L Chau stated that his saddle shifted back shortly after the start, placing him at some disadvantage during the running of the event.
Horse No 6 GO HERO (H315) Y L Chung After the event, Y L Chung reported that his mount did not appreciate racing in amongst other horses on the All Weather surface.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 8 SUNNY BABY (E166) B Thompson Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 9 COLOURFUL BARON (G301) L Hewitson Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 10 KEEN UNITY (G298) H Bentley Sent for sampling post-race.

Despite a wide trip without cover for most of the race, Colourful Baron was too good after moving to the lead near the 300m. It was no surprise after filling the frame in his first two starts on both surfaces this term. Keen Unity ran on nicely to finish a clear-cut second after a one-off trip from midfield. It was a vastly improved effort on his return to the dirt at his second outing this term. Joyful Champion ran on well for third after a one-off trip from behind midfield. He has given a good sight in both starts over the dirt 1,800m. Early favourite Go Go Go stayed on a distant fourth after a rails run from midfield. It was another honest performance. Golden Fairy just plodded with every chance after trailing the leader Winning Turn on the fence. It was an OK effort at his first run on the dirt surface. Fury And Gold came from last and widest out to finish next best. Post-time favourite Fruity Warrior threw in the towel soon after straightening following a pace-stalking run. He was tackling the dirt for the first time after back-to-back seconds on the turf.
