Racing Incident Report
Race Seven : (127) - TSIM MEI FUNG HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters
Horse No 1 APACHE PASS (D433) A Atzeni Jumped only fairly and was bumped shortly after the start.
Horse No 2 TURIN MASCOT (H165) Z Purton Approaching the 250 Metres improved into a narrow run to the outside of TALENTS AMBITION and then raced tight between TALENTS AMBITION and FIGHTING MACHINE until passing the 200 Metres.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 SUPREME AGILITY (J267) M F Poon Shortly after the start shifted in and made contact with APACHE PASS.
Approaching the 150 Metres was shifted to the outside of TURIN MASCOT to obtain clear running and then over the concluding stages raced tight between TURIN MASCOT and FIGHTING MACHINE.
Horse No 4 PERFECT TEAM (H120) E C W Wong When questioned regarding his mount leading, Apprentice E C W Wong stated that from an inside barrier he was instructed to hold a forward position and also to ensure that his mount commenced well as it had a tendency to begin only fairly in its recent starts.
He said with the hood being removed for tonight's race PERFECT TEAM jumped well and responded to his urgings in the early stages which resulted in the horse being able to lead the event.
Horse No 5 TALENTS AMBITION (J136) H Bentley Jumped awkwardly.
Approaching the 100 Metres was placed in restricted room when racing tight between TURIN MASCOT and PERFECT TEAM (Apprentice E C W Wong) which shifted out.
Apprentice Wong was advised to exercise more care.
After the event, H Bentley reported that his mount enjoyed a comfortable run throughout the race and after initially responding to his riding in the early part of the Home Straight was left without a strong finishing effort over the concluding stages, but he could offer no explanation for the performance.
Trainer M Newnham advised that he was satisfied with the performance of TALENTS AMBITION and, in his opinion, would derive benefit from tonight's second up performance, particularly with the horse stepping up 450 Metres in distance from its first up run.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 7 FIGHTING MACHINE (J015) A Badel In the middle stages raced keenly and approaching the 900 Metres was steadied away from TURIN MASCOT.
A short distance later FIGHTING MACHINE was shifted out and then raced wide and without cover from the 800 Metres.

Horse No 9 GOOD LUCK BABE (K016) M Chadwick Crowded shortly after the start between SUPREME AGILITY and FIGHTING MACHINE which shifted in slightly.
Then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 12 SUPER LOVE DRAGON (J038) C Y Ho From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

After a one-off trip from behind midfield, Turin Mascot quickened nicely to take control 80m out for a third win and first on the surface from 22 local runs. Fighting Machine ran on nicely to just take second after improving out wide from towards the rear 700m out. Supreme Agility ran on nicely to just miss second after making his run five back on the fence. It was a solid effort at his first go on the surface. Perfect Team grudgingly gave way after turning the final bend two lengths on top after making the front from gate four. He is always a chance on the dirt surface. Raging favourite Talents Ambition came to win the race 100m out after a one-off trip from midfield but came up one paced over the last 50m. He couldn't back up a near win over the dirt 1,200m despite a step up to a more suitable mile trip. Apache Pass ran on without threatening after making his run two from the rear. He couldn't offset the big weight despite dropping in class. Young Brilliant only plodded after a prominent run. He was up in grade after a win at the course and distance start in June.
