To Infinity quickened nicely to overhaul Red Hare King for his third win from 18 starts, with all of his victories occurring over Happy Valley's 1,650m. However, it was his first success in Class Four. Punted late, Red Hare King stalked the pace and worked to the lead approaching the final bend but found one too good. He is close to a win after placing in three of his past four races. Favourite Simply Maverick ran on nicely to finish a close third after suffering an interrupted run travelling three wide with cover behind midfield. He has the tools to add to his wide-margin last-start triumph. Mr Aladdin plugged on all right for fourth after his box seat run. He has shown hints of ability in his four outings. Master Tornado came up one-paced after travelling one out and out back and getting every chance. He is limited. Noble Win got going late to finish the next best after making his run two from the rear. It was a typical effort from him this season. Royal Pride ran on from the back of the field without threatening the winner. Choicerus was a non-factor after travelling ungenerously three wide in midfield.

Race Six : (266) - URANUS HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters

Horse No 1 SPANGLE FORTUNE (G427) K C Leung Leaving the 1000 Metres, due to the slow pace, was allowed to stride forward but was obliged to race wide and without cover thereafter.

Horse No 2 SIMPLY MAVERICK (H346) A Atzeni Bumped at the start.

Leaving the 1300 Metres was bumped heavily by CHOICERUS, blundered badly, became unbalanced and lost ground.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 ROYAL PRIDE (E351) L Ferraris Bumped on jumping.

Horse No 4 RED HARE KING (H188) L Hewitson Bumped at the start.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 SIR HURRICANE (H449) K H Chan Jumped only fairly, shifted out and was bumped.

In the early and middle stages over-raced due to the slow pace Horse No 7 NOBLE WIN (H195) A Badel From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 9 SPARKY STAR (C416) H T Mo From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

In the middle stages raced keenly due to the slow pace.

Horse No 11 TACTICAL COMMAND (H197) M L Yeung A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 12 CHOICERUS (H029) A Hamelin Bumped at the start.

Near the 1300 Metres, CHOICERUS, which was racing fiercely, got its head up and was checked when crowded between MASTER TORNADO and TACTICAL COMMAND (M L Yeung) which, after shifting in before being corrected by its rider, then raced tight to the inside of RED HARE KING (L Hewitson).

M L Yeung and L Hewitson were advised to exercise more care.

However, the Stewards found the racing manners of CHOICERUS were the main reason for the interference occurring.

CHOICERUS then continued to race fiercely throughout the early stages and refused to settle despite the efforts of its rider.

The racing manners of CHOICERUS were considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, CHOICERUS will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial amongst other runners.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No GALLANT CROWN (D359) K C Leung Withdrawn on 18.12.23 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (heart irregularity) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter SPANGLE FORTUNE.

Before being allowed to race again, GALLANT CROWN will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
