Race Four : (132) - THE CHINESE GENERAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 ACT OF FAITH (H082) B Avdulla Shifted out and away from HERO STAR approaching the 250 Metres.
Horse No 2 ZOOM BOOM (G131) Y L Chung Shortly after the start was checked when crowded between WIND SPEEDER which shifted out slightly and SPEEDSTAR (K De Melo) which shifted in before being corrected by its rider.
K De Melo was reprimanded and advised in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten sooner than what he did on this occasion.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 SIGHT HERO (D487) K Teetan From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 SUPER BONUS (H259) A Hamelin Approaching the 250 Metres was crowded by ACT OF FAITH (B Avdulla) which shifted out and away from HERO STAR.
B Avdulla was advised to exercise more care.
Horse No 6 MAYHEM (H226) M Chadwick Bumped at the start.
Approaching the 250 Metres was hampered by SUPER BONUS which was taken out.
After the race, M Chadwick stated that his mount over-raced throughout the event and as a result failed to finish the race off strongly.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Noted to have lost its left front plate after the race.
Horse No 7 HAPPY FEELING (H443) K C Leung Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
In the early stages raced ungenerously.
Horse No 8 HARMONY N HOME (C531) Z Purton From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 9 SUPER EAGLE (G408) L Ferraris Jumped only fairly and then was bumped shortly after the start.
Horse No 10 WIND SPEEDER (E281) L Hewitson Apprentice Y L Chung (ZOOM BOOM) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 100 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of WIND SPEEDER, resulting in WIND SPEEDER losing its rightful running and being checked.
Apprentice Chung was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Sunday, 19 November 2023 at Sha Tin.
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his good race riding record.
Horse No 11 HERCULES (C476) A Badel From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 12 SPEEDSTAR (G181) K De Melo Sent for sampling post-race.

Zoom Boom hit the front 50m out under in-form claimer Angus Chung Yik-lai and held off Sight Hero's late surge to win by a nose. A three-time winner in the United Kingdom two years ago, it was his first Hong Kong victory on his sixth local start. Sight Hero received a patient Karis Teetan ride three from the rear before roaring home down the outside to just miss. He is always a chance over Happy Valley's 1,200m. Post-time favourite Speedstar stayed on well for third. He is building towards a second success. Early favourite Act Of Faith travelled in the box seat and hit the lead 150m out but his heavy weight took its toll in the end. Hero Star cleared to the front from barrier eight but was on his tippy toes in the latter stages. He makes his own luck in front and could get away with a race soon. Super Eagle ran on from worse than midfield without threatening the placegetters. Zoom Boom carved up Wind Speeder 50m from the line after the latter had travelled on the fence in midfield. He is likely to be a force if he finds his way into Class Five. Mayhem plodded in the home straight run after racing prominently without cover.
