Racing Incident Report
Race Ten: (168) - PANASONIC NANOE X THERMO VENTILATOR HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400Meters
HAPPY TOGETHER bumped the outside of its gate on jumping and consequently began only fairly.
ALL BEAUTY was crowded for room at the start between STUNNING IMPACT and SWORD POINT which shifted in.
From wide barriers, EXCELLENT DADDY and SETANTA were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
After travelling a short distance, BEAUTY CHARGE got its head on the side, shifted in and bumped SWORD POINT which resulted in BEAUTY CHARGE becoming unbalanced.
Passing the 1100 Metres, HAPPY TOGETHER was awkwardly placed close to the heels of ALL BEAUTY.
After this, HAPPY TOGETHER travelled keenly.
Near the 1050 Metres, SPANGLE FORTUNE momentarily raced tight inside the heels of PARTERRE.
Near the 950 Metres, HAPPY DAILY was steadied away from the heels of BEAUTY CHARGE which raced tight inside VOYAGE BUBBLE (K C Leung) which shifted in.
After this, BEAUTY CHARGE was eased away from the heels of VOYAGE BUBBLE approaching the 800 Metres when that horse shifted in when not properly clear.
K C Leung was reprimanded and told to ensure that he is properly clear when shifting ground to prevent causing unnecessary crowding to other runners.
Making the turn after the 900 Metres, ALL BEAUTY got its head on the side and shifted out towards the heels of SWORD POINT which near the 800 Metres was left racing wide and without cover.
HAPPY TOGETHER, which was having its first Hong Kong race start today, was awkwardly placed outside the heels of ALL BEAUTY near the 500 Metres and then after being corrected made the Home Turn awkwardly.
Passing the 400 Metres, PARTERRE raced tight inside BEAUTY CHARGE when held up for running behind VOYAGE BUBBLE.
Approaching the 300 Metres, EXCELLENT DADDY was eased away from the heels of STUNNING IMPACT which after shifting to the outside of SWORD POINT was then taken out by that horse.
Over about the final 200 Metres, SWORD POINT lay in under pressure and proved difficult to ride.
Approaching the 100 Metres, HAPPY DAILY momentarily raced tight between SETANTA and SWEET ENCOUNTER which shifted to the outside of STUNNING IMPACT to continue improving.
After the race, L Ferraris reported that SPANGLE FORTUNE was making an abnormal breathing noise.
A veterinary inspection of SPANGLE FORTUNE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
When questioned, A Badel stated that it was intended for SWEET ENCOUNTER to be ridden in a forward position today.
He said after being loaded into the barriers, SWEET ENCOUNTER was standing well, however, as the start was effected got its head up which resulted in SWEET ENCOUNTER being slow to begin and consequently having to race towards the rear of the field.
He said rather than attempt to shift to the outside of runners prior to the Home Turn which would have resulted in SWEET ENCOUNTER covering unnecessary ground, he elected to obtain inside runs on SWEET ENCOUNTER which he was able to do rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight.
He added that he initially elected to follow PARTERRE after the 400 Metres through as he anticipated that that horse would quicken after obtaining clear running between VOYAGE BUBBLE and BEAUTY CHARGE.
He said however that PARTERRE did not show any turn of foot and therefore after the 300 Metres he shifted SWEET ENCOUNTER out a number of runners to obtain clear running.
He said after the 200 Metres he intended to improve between SWORD POINT and STUNNING IMPACT where there was clear running available, however, STUNNING IMPACT shifted in under pressure which resulted in him having to direct SWEET ENCOUNTER to the outside of that horse.
He said although SWEET ENCOUNTER was unable to obtain the run between SWORD POINT and STUNNING IMPACT, the horse did not lose momentum as a result of having to be directed to the outside of STUNNING IMPACT.
He said after obtaining clear running near the 100 Metres SWEET ENCOUNTER then finished the race off strongly.
A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY CHARGE and HAPPY DAILY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of EXCELLENT DADDY immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, EXCELLENT DADDY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
STUNNING IMPACT and SWEET ENCOUNTER were sent for sampling.
GENERAL:
1.
After the running of Race 2, the track classification for the turf course was officially changed from "Good??to "Good to Firm?? This change in the opinion of the Stewards should be recorded as being retrospective.
As a consequence of this, the official results will show Races 1 and 2 being run on a track rated "Good to Firm??

Trainer C Fownes was fined the sum of $5,000 for breaching the Track Work Regulations in that two horses trained by him which galloped on the turf track this morning worked inside the coned off area.

Stunning Impact dashed nicely to take control 100m out after a one-off trip behind midfield for a second straight win despite a rise in grade. He's really flying this season for his new trainer. Favourite Sweet Encounter came with a ducking-and-weaving run to take second after travelling third last from a slow start. It was a fine effort up in grade off a light weight. Voyage Bubble finished next best leading 400m out after working hard to stalk the leader Super King from gate 14. It was a good run first up this season and he remains one to follow up on. Setanta came from last at the head of the straight to fill the frame. He's returned this season with a good spring in his step. Punted late All Beauty got going late down the outside to just miss fourth after making his run five back on the fence. He's run well in both starts this term. Sword Point peaked on his run 50m out after working to second 150m out following a wide without cover in midfield. It was a pleasing debut effort carrying top weight. Beauty Charge came up one-paced over the final 150m after a one-out, one-back run. He needed the outing.
