Favourite Robot Warrior took control 120m out after a rails run in midfield. He relished a return to the course and distance of a runner-up result two back for a maiden win at his 13th start. Plunged late Red Elysees stayed on well for second after getting held up for a run until the 150m following a prominent run on the fence. He's racing well without winning. Eevee ran on strongly one from the right to fill a placing after settling second last from a wide draw. It was a good effort on the back of a slow pace with a step up to 2,000m. Legion Of Merit found a few too good after surging to the lead near the 200m following a one-off run better than midfield. He had no excuse. Super Elegance ran on steadily along the inside for fifth without menacing the top-four after a rails run in midfield. He's not far off a bottom. Turquoise Alpha plugged on without menacing after a wide with cover trip in midfield. It wasn't a bad effort trying 2,000m for the first time. Sacred Ibis ran on late without threatening down the outside from the rear of the field. It was a positive performance in a slowly run race with a step up to 2,000m. Perfect Maryknoll made only a mild bid after a one-off run behind midfield.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (532) - SHEK YAM HANDICAP - Class 4 - 2000Meters

LEGION OF MERIT shifted out at the start and bumped ROBOT WARRIOR which in turn shifted out and bumped SUPER ELEGANCE.

SHINY TWO, which was being steadied to obtain cover, was crowded for room on jumping between TURQUOISE ALPHA and PERFECT MARYKNOLL which shifted out after being bumped by TELECOM CHEETAH.

From wide barriers, EEVEE and SACRED IBIS were steadied to obtain cover in the early stages.

TURQUOISE ALPHA was also steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.

Due to the tempo of the race, TURQUOISE ALPHA commenced to travel keenly approaching the 1300 Metres and shifted out away from the heels of PERFECT MARYKNOLL and was allowed to improve its position.

Approaching the 1100 Metres, TELECOM CHEETAH commenced to travel keenly and was checked away from behind LEGION OF MERIT.

PERFECT MARYKNOLL, which was following TELECOM CHEETAH, shifted out away from the heels of that horse in consequence, resulting in EEVEE, which was following PERFECT MARYKNOLL, being hampered.

At the 400 Metres, TELECOM CHEETAH and PERFECT MARYKNOLL became unbalanced after bumping as a result of both horses shifting ground.

SUPER ELEGANCE had some difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 300 Metres and was crowded for room when attempting to improve into tight running between MISTER MONTE and LUCKY DIAMOND approaching the 200 Metres.

SUPER ELEGANCE then became unbalanced and shifted in towards the heels of MISTER MONTE.

Approaching the 250 Metres, TURQUOISE ALPHA was brushed by ROBOT WARRIOR which shifted out.

RED ELYSEES had some difficulty obtaining clear running near the 250 Metres and then near the 150 Metres was hampered when momentarily crowded for room between ASIAN ONE and LEGION OF MERIT which shifted in marginally.

Passing the 50 Metres, LUCKY DIAMOND was hampered when shifted in away from the heels of ASIAN ONE which got its head on the side and shifted in away from RED ELYSEES.

Throughout the race, ASIAN ONE travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of LUCKY DIAMOND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

ROBOT WARRIOR and RED ELYSEES were sent for sampling.

<28/3/2022 Additional Veterinary Reports>The Veterinary Surgeon reported that LEGION OF MERIT was lame in its left front leg on the morning after racing.

Before being allowed to race again, LEGION OF MERIT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
