Double Take overhauled Unite Spirit in deep stretch for the win after peeling into the open with one wider out at the top of the straight following a rail run third last from a wide gate. The writing had been on the wall in his past few starts and there's likely another win coming. Favourite Unite Spirit found one too good after hitting the front near the 100m following a one-off run five back. He's near a bottom. Crown Avenue stayed on well to just edge King's Race for third after a deep run with cover behind midfield. He's racing well. Plunged late King's Race just missed a placing after a deep run without cover in midfield. He's given a decent sight in back-to-back runs following a switch to the dirt. El Valiente ran on steadily without menacing after saving ground behind midfield. It was a better effort second-up with a step up in distance and switch to the dirt.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (300) - TAI LONG TSUI HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters

On jumping, UNITE SPIRIT lost ground when crowded for room between BLOOMING SPIRIT and EL VALIENTE.

From wide barriers, RAINBOW LIGHT, DOUBLE TAKE and APEX TOP were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

SKYEY SUPREME travelled wide and without cover until approaching the 1000 Metres at which stage KING'S RACE was left racing wide and without cover.

Approaching the 600 Metres, HERO TIME was momentarily awkwardly placed inside the heels of SKYEY SUPREME.

When HERO TIME commenced to give ground after leaving the 600 Metres, LUCKY MARYKNOLL was awkwardly placed behind that horse.

BLOOMING SPIRIT, which was trailing LUCKY MARYKNOLL, was steadied away from the heels of that horse in consequence.

Then rounding the Home Turn, BLOOMING SPIRIT was steadied for some distance when held up behind HERO TIME as that horse continued to lose ground.

Approaching the 150 Metres, KING'S RACE shifted out under pressure and made contact with CROWN AVENUE.

The performance of HERO TIME, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, HERO TIME will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of HERO TIME immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

After the race, M F Poon reported that LUCKY MARYKNOLL did not feel comfortable in its action during the race.

A veterinary inspection of LUCKY MARYKNOLL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of SKYEY SUPREME and APEX TOP immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

DOUBLE TAKE and UNITE SPIRIT were sent for sampling.
